Zahlreiche weitere Aspekte der Siedlung jener Zeit, der Ortsnamen, des Steuersystems, der Bevölkerungszahlen und der stadtischen Wirtschaftsstruktur werden diskutiert. Ein gorsser Teil der vorliegenden Darstellung gilt der Dokumentation der Wirtschaftsstruktur jeder einzelnen Siedlung. Etwa dreitausend Dörfer und mezra'a gab es damals in diesem Gebiet. Ihre Wirtschaftskraft ist quantifiziert und in einam ausführlichen Teil des Buches dorfweise dargestelt. Die Regierungszeit von Sultan Süleyman 1. war die einzige Periode vor der Gegenwart, für die wir derartige Informationen haben, selbst für dieses entlegene Gebiet, das "Land an der Grenze".
