‎C'est avec beaucoup de retard que Maurice Le Roux rpond la lettre de son correspondant o il lui disait son ...angoisse devant l'norme travail d'ducation du public, et la difficult que pose cet immense problme. (...) je suis persuad que ton style, ta culture clectique, ta modestie, ton humour, ton srieux sont les armes les mieux faites pour ce combat. On ne peut faire mieux... rpond-il, reconnaissant que le problme est ...d'avoir les bonnes tribunes et de savoir qui l'on s'adresse. Notre rle, poursuit-il, est de fournir l'antidote aux empoisonnements distills savamment par les intrts (...) qui imposent interprtes et Suvres un public qui n'a pas d'oreilles pour couter, ni de cSur pur pour ressentir une motion musicale. (...) Ce que tu me dis des ractions des gens soi-disant cultivs (...) qui crent des chapelles, est exact, c'est exasprant, je le sais comme chef-d'orchestre et aussi comme "initiateur". On a beaucoup de mal convaincre, et lorsqu'on a convaincu, on retrouve ces mmes gens retombs ensuite dans leur mdiocrit et leurs habitudes.(...) A ce stade d'endurcissement, il n'y a pas de remdes, pas d'espoir. (...) il faut donc retourner d'autres terres (...). Ce qu'il faudrait, videmment, c'est viter que les nouveaux publics retombent dans les mmes conventions, et cela c'est bien difficile parce que Ravel est plus facile que Debussy, Stravinsky que Prokofieff, Pierre Henry que Xenakis etc... (...) Il faut vivre avec cette ide-l et en tirer les consquences. Et puis savoir qu'en cette priode de mutation de civilisation (...) il faut tre sr que la nouvelle gnration tournera ses yeux vers d'autres horizons musicaux dont la mdiocrit technique sera rcupre et accepte par la lchet des gens de notre gnration. (...) C'est pourquoi, il faut continuer fermement croire, expliquer, propager, protger les musiciens et les musiques que nous aimons. Pour ma part, je suis dispos tre considr comme un grand singe bleu : c'est une belle mtamorphose... conclut-il avant de relater en post scriptum une anecdote sur Picasso : ...Lorsque j'tais Barcelone, un vieil artiste catalan m'ayant montr la plaque de la rue Davignan me prcisa qu'il y avait l un bordel o Picasso venait souvent. Et que son tableau, intitul "Les demoiselles Davignan" reprsente les filles de cet tablissement. Rien voir donc avec Avignon. Amusant n'est-ce pas ? ...Elve d'Olivier Messian au Conservatoire national de musique, Maurice Le Roux devient chef de l''Orchestre de l'ORTF (de 1960 1968) et producteur d'Arcana, une mission de tlvision de haut niveau, paticulirement suivie.‎

Le dernier chapitre (pp.93 à la fin) est intitulé “L’ancienne loge des Franc-Maçons de Bourg” : en s’appuyant sur d’authentiques documents familiaux des Riboud, l’auteur retrace tès précisément les débuts de la franc-maçonnerie dans l’Ain, grâce à M.M. Riboud et de Lalande ; il nous livre également un bref historique de la loge des Neuf Soeurs (Fesch : Bibliographie de la Franc-Maçonnerie, 830). Dos très légèrement passé, bel exemplaire.‎

Hardcover. no dust jacket but encased in a nice-looking facsimile reproduction of the original first edition jacket; see 2nd image posted with this listing light wear to extremities upper corners bumped slight fading to spine cloth; ex-Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Script Department copy with related stamping and remnants of MGM label on front endpaper. The 15th Arsène Lupin book featuring the gentleman thief and master of disguise here depicted under one of his various pseudonyms "Ralph de Limézy." The book was originally published in France in 1927 as "La Demoiselle aux yeux verts." It's interesting to note that this book once belonged to the M-G-M Script Department; M-G-M did make a couple of Arsène Lupin movies in 1932 and 1938 but neither one seems to have been directly based on any of the Leblanc books. NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket which has not been factored in to our pricing. It's also interesting at least to me that the jacket designer wasn't paying attention to which direction the accent mark in Arsène should be pointing. . The Macaulay Company hardcover‎

B&W frontispiece The 13th Arsène Lupin book featuring the gentleman thief and master of disguise. In this novel originally published in France in 1924 as "La Comtesse de Cagliostro" relates the story of Lupin's first adventure and the great love of his life a "frightful duel of love and hate which brought a boy of twenty Lupin presented here as so often under a pseudonym "Ralph d'Andresy" to grips with Cagliostro's daughter." The Preface indicates that the telling of the story had had to wait more than twenty-five years at Lupin's insistence because he had "one or two little matters yet to be settled between the Countess of Cagliostro and me." It's interesting to note that this book once belonged to the M-G-M Library; M-G-M did make a couple of Arsène Lupin movies in 1932 and 1938 but neither one seems to have been directly based on any of the Leblanc books.
