Contains all forty-eight illustrated plates of various ornaments sculptures paintings and masonry work including six which are in colour. Plates are not loosely inserted like in the original work but are bound inside the book making for easier viewing. Collated complete.Hindu artwork is known for both its vivid symbolism and pluralism leading to fascinating decorations which are both visually captivating and admired for their great intricacy. This collection has been carefully ordered chronologically offering readers insight into how Hindu art developed over time.Founded approximately fifty years before publishing in 1878 the Guimet Museum hosts the largest collection of Asian art outside of the continent.
