This copy given in loose sheets to noted South Australian biologist Dr. R. V. Southcott by the author in 1960 then bound into cloth hardcover. Part of its new incarnation is the gift presentation inscription and signature by Cooper of 1960. Also includes notes by Southcott at rear and some annotations to text. Interestingly page 17 apparently printing was indistinct was taken from Coopers very own copy. ALSO INCLUDED: copy of Baudin's Chart 2060 unpublished at the time which was recovered in 1960 from the South Australian Museum. Documented on the chart is: "In published French chart C. Meduses is replaced by C. Morard de Galles & G. Bernouille was retained in its original position. C. Morard de Galles has not survived as there is no headland at the upper extreme of Lacepede Bay & C. The publication includes many b&w printed photographic images of mechanical harvesters in the field with the parts numbered and identified in captions as well as horse powered combined harvesters. The four corners are adorned with circles saying "Original' 'Humourous' 'Artistic' and 'Novel'. Black and white postcard split back postally unused. Royal Visit to New South Wales Public Reception Held by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales at the Town Hall Sydney
1920. Announcement card for royal visit to Australia of Prince Edward who famously abdicated the throne in 1936 to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson. The public reception for this visit to Sydney was held at 10:30 am Friday 18th June 1920; the reaction to his visit is described by Edward in his autobiography: "The 'touching mania' one of the most remarkable phenomena connected with my travels took the form of a mass impulse to prod some part of the Prince of Wales. Whenever I entered a crowd it closed around me like an octopus. I can still hear the shrill excited cry 'I touched him!' If I were out of reach then a blow to my head with a folded newspaper appeared to satisfy the impulse". With floral border flag crests battleship. Color printed card 9 1/2 x 6 3/4". London: Thomas M'Lean 1841. Very good condition. A lovely mezzotint engraved portrait of the Queen 1792 - 1849 dressed in widow's garb following the death of her husband King William IV of England. The capital city of the Australian state of South Australia was named in honor of the Queen when it was founded in 1836. South Australia was formed under the Act for the Colonization of South Australia of 1834 and was intended to be a haven of civil and religious liberties. The portrait of the Queen is a charming one; she gazes steadily out her hair in braids with a black lace veil over her head and around her shoulders. Engraved by Henry Thomas Ryall 1811 - 1867 engraver to Queen Victoria and based on the painting by William Charles Ross 1794 - 1860. 13 1/2 x 17 1/2". Image printed and laid on to thicker paper; with very slt toning to thicker paper at outer edges o/w very good. <br/><br/> Thomas M'Lean unknown
