‎Beau plan de Paris, dressé par André Leconte, imprimé en couleurs par Crété à Corbeil-Essonnes, et publié par l'auteur à Paris entre 1942 et 1945. Ce plan, dressé à l'usage des touristes, est orné de nombreuses vignettes représentant les monuments emblématiques de Paris comme la Tour Eiffel, l'Arc de Triomphe ou Notre-Dame, et s'étend au-delà des limites de la ville et de l'enceinte de Thiers, pour montrer les communes environnantes, également représentées par des vignettes. Il figure également le réseau du Métropolitain parisien, qui va nous permettre de dater le plan entre 1949 et 1952. En effet, il montre, sur la ligne 6, la station Bir-Hakeim, nommée Grenelle jusqu'au 18 juin 1949, mais pas le prolongement, sur la ligne 13, entre la station Porte de Saint-Ouen et la station Carrefour Pleyel, mis en place le 30 juin 1952. Au verso de ce plan figure une carte des environs de Paris (dans un rayon d'environ 80 km), dessinée par F. Ménétrier, et décorée des monuments historiques les plus remarquables comme le palais de Fontainebleau, les cathédrales de Chartres et de Soissons, les châteaux de Chantilly, de Diane de Poitiers à Anet, et de Vincennes, la cascade de Saint-Cloud, la Tour de César à Provins, ou encore le pont de Montereau. Les routes et chemins praticables sont représentés, ainsi que les rivières et les chemins de fer. Bon exemplaire, replié. Traces d'adhésif dans les angles, petites déchirures sans manque aux pliures. ‎Paris, Lemercier & C.ie, [1867]. En 32 sections montées sur toile et repliées, formant une vue de 63 x 85,5 cm hors marges, 85,5 x 115,5 cm avec les marges.‎

‎Très rare et très grande vue aérienne de Saint-Étienne, dessinée et lithographiée par Théodore Müller, imprimée par Lemercier à Paris, et publiée en 1867. Comme la plupart des vues de Saint-Étienne de cette époque, telles la vue d'Alfred Guesdon, celle-ci est prise depuis le cimetière de Saint-Claude, qui se trouve en bas à gauche de la vue, aujourd'hui cimetière du Crêt de Roc, au nord-est de la ville. La vue nous permet de voir notamment les jardins de la Promenade de l'Heurton, la place Chavanelle, qui accueillait les magasins de la Manufacture royale d'armes, l'église Sainte-Marie qui se distingue par ses trois coupoles, ou encore la place Marengo. Comme en témoignent les fumées de cheminées d'usines autour de la ville, Saint-Étienne était au XIXe siècle l'une des plus grandes villes industrielles françaises. Déjà ville prospère dans l'armurerie et la rubanerie, elle devint, grâce à la présence de houille dans la région, l'un des principaux centres d'usines métallurgiques de France. C'est aussi à Saint-Étienne que fut construite, en 1829, la première ligne de chemin de fer française par l'ingénieur Marc Seguin, la première à expérimenter en 1832 la traction par des locomotives à vapeur, transportant simultanément des marchandises et des voyageurs. En 1855, lorsque les communes limitrophes de Valbenoîte, Montaud, Beaubrun et Outre-Furan sont annexées à l'agglomération stéphanoise, la population passe de 30 000 à 80 000 habitants. Le 1er janvier 1856, elle devient le siège de la Préfecture du département de la Loire à la place de Montbrison. Très rare. À notre connaissance, il s'agirait de la toute première vue générale de Saint-Étienne de ce format, mentionnée dans les deux bibliographies citées ci-dessous, mais dont nous n'avons trouvé aujourd'hui aucune trace dans les collections publiques. Le Musée d'Art et d'Industrie de Saint-Étienne conserve une vue identique, portant le nom de J.M. Ogier et la date de 1866. Nous n'avons trouvé aucune autre information sur cette estampe, y compris sur ses dimensions. Bel exemplaire à très grandes marges. Mouillures claires dans la marge supérieure. ‎Belle carte de la Sardaigne, issue de l'édition latine de la Cosmographie de Münster, publiée à Bâle en 1550. L'île est partagée en deux par une ligne en pointillés : au nord, Caput Lugudori, au sud, Caput Calaris. La carte montre également le sud de la Corse avec la ville de Bonifacio. Texte latin au dos. Savant humaniste et cartographe originaire du sud de l'Allemagne, Sebastian Münster se retira à Bâle en 1529, où il professa la géographie, les mathématiques et l'hébreu avec succès. On a de lui un grand nombre d'ouvrages estimés, dont les principaux sont la Grammatica chaldaica (1527), la Horologiographia (1531-1533), la Biblia Hebraica (1534), et bien sûr la Cosmographia (1544), qui fut traduite en plusieurs langues. Bel exemplaire.‎

Münster aveva lavorato a raccogliere informazioni al fine di ottenere un'opera che non deludesse le aspettative e, dopo un'ulteriore pubblicazione in tedesco abbellita da 910 stampe su legno, giunse nel 1550 all'edizione definitiva in latino, illustrata da 970 silografie. Vi furono poi numerose edizioni in diverse lingue, fra cui latino, francese, italiano, inglese e ceco. Dopo la sua morte di Münster (1552), Heinrich Petri prima, e il figlio Sebastian poi, continuarono la pubblicazione dell’opera. La Cosmographia universalis fu uno dei libri più popolari e di successo del XVI secolo, e vide ben 24 edizioni in 100 anni: l'ultima edizione tedesca venne pubblicata nel 1628, molto tempo dopo la morte dell'autore. La Cosmographia conteneva non solo le ultime mappe e vedute di tutte le città più famose, ma anche una serie di notizie enciclopediche di dettagli relative al mondo conosciuto, e sconosciuto. Il particolare successo anche commerciale di quest'opera fu dovuto in parte alle belle incisioni (tra i cui autori si possono citate Hans Holbein il Giovane, Urs Graf, Hans Rudolph Manuel Deutsch, David Kandel). Molti dei principali monumenti di Roma sono chiaramente identificabili. In basso una legenda che individua circa 23 punti di riferimento."Seppure incisa mezzo secolo dopo le piante del Bergomense e dello Schedel, la veduta ritrae la città come si presentava alla fine del '400 attingendo al medesimo prototipo comunemente indicato nel panorama di Mantova a sua volta ripreso da un presunto ma tuttora sconosciuto panorama inciso nella bottega di Francesco Rosselli verso il 1485. L'immagine venne inserita in una delle opere più note del '500, la Cosmographiae Universalis per la prima volta edita in latino nel 1550 e poi ristampata più volte in italiano, francese e tedesco. […] è stata più volte rilevata dai critici l'assenza del Colosseo dall'autore stesso curiosamente giustificata alla lettera G della legenda "per mancanza di spazio". Oltre ai Dioscuri presso le Terme di Diocleziano, presenti anche nelle piante di Bergomense e Schedel, è qui indicata acnhe la statua equestre del Marco Aurelio nella sua originale collocazione presso San Giovanni in Laterano da cui fu spostata nel 1538 per la visista di Carlo V a Roma e collocata da Michelangelo in Campidoglio. È ancora in piedi la Meta Romuli sebbene demolita nel 1499 e le due edicole alla fine di Castel Sant'Angelo demolite dopo il Sacco di Roma del 1527. Munster's view captures a fine sense of the fortified walls and Seven Hills of the Eternal City, with significant activity along the Tiber River. Many of Rome's great landmarks are clearly identifiable in this important early view. The key at the bottom locates approximately 23 landmarks.Although engraved half a century later from the maps by Bergomensis and Schedel, the view depicts the city as it was at the end of the 15th century, drawing on the same prototype commonly indicated in the panorama of Mantua in turn taken from a still unknown panorama engraved in the workshop of Francesco Rosselli around 1485. The image was included in one of the most famous works of the '500, the Cosmographiae Universalis for the first time published in Latin in 1550 and then reprinted several times in Italian, French and German. The absence of the Colosseum - justified by the author himself by the letter G of the legend "for lack of space" - has been noted several times by critics. In addition to the Dioscuri at the Baths of Diocletian, also present in the plants of Bergomensis and Schedel, the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius in its original location near San Giovanni in Laterano, from which it was moved in 1538 for the visist of Charles V in Rome and placed by Michelangelo in the Capitoline Hill, is here indicated. ‎Cassini de Thury (César-François), né à Thury le 17 juin 1714, mort à Paris le 4 septembre 1784, fils de Cassini II et de Suzanne Françoise Charpentier de Charmois, étudie l'astronomie à l'observatoire de Paris sous la direction de son grand oncle, JF Maraldi. Il est le premier directeur de l'Observatoire de Paris de 1758 à 1771. Il est nommé en 1748 maitre ordinaire à la chambre des Comptes et conseiller du Roi. Il sera aussi membre de la Royal Society et de l'académie de Berlin. Son ouvrage principal est la carte de France, première carte de base de ce pays ..... ‎Four-plate engraving by J. E. Mansfeld, mounted on cloth and framed under glass. 131 x 162 cm. Probably the most monumental layout plan of the Vienna inner city ever published, doubling the scale of Nagel's better-known (and more common) plan of Vienna and its suburbs (1781), and self-published as early as 1774. Nagel had begun his surveying task shortly after completion of the re-numbering of houses in 1770. "Probably completed in October 1774" (cf. Dörflinger). - Slight browning to margins, otherwise fine. Extremely rare. Dörflinger, Österreichische Karten des 18. Jhs. I, 71 and note 115. Not in Mayer or Eckl colls.‎
