Jacques Marseille professeur d'�conomie � la Sorbonne s'�tait fait remarquer en 1993 en publiant un ouvrage qui allait � l'encontre des id�es re�ues. C'est beau la France exaltait l'esprit de notre pays o� l'on se plaint beaucoup mais o� il fait on s'accorde tous � le dire en v�rit� bon vivre. Une d�cennie s'est �coul�e mais la vapeur pour Jacques Marseille s'est invers�e. Au regard des chiffres tout va pour le mieux. Nos industries ont fait un boom la France a regagn� quelque chose de sa grandeur pass�e�; m�me le couronnement des exploits sportifs nationaux sont au rendez-vous eux qui nous ont si souvent manqu�. Il y a pourtant un caillou dans la chaussure qui nous emp�che de marcher droit. Un caillou qui pourrait m�me nous faire tr�bucher. Le Grand Gaspillage est une enqu�te sur les vrais comptes de l'�tat. Selon l'auteur le budget des d�penses de l'�tat ne cesse d'augmenter et les dysfonctionnements se multiplient. Preuve des rapports de la Cour des comptes � l'appui Jacques Marseille �gr�ne et commente la longue liste "des d�rives d�pensi�res non contr�l�es". Les grands travaux mitterrandiens sont les premiers vis�s Biblioth�que nationale de France et Op�ra Bastille en t�te. Mais le probl�me est que le "gaspillage" de l'�tat se retrouve � tous les niveaux�: emploi sant� enseignement entreprises. Plus de 500 milliards de francs soit 10�% seulement du budget de l'�tat telle est l'�conomie que l'on pourrait ais�ment faire si on se montrait plus raisonnable en haut lieu.
