London: Waverley Book Company. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 6" x 8.5. A collection of 70 illustrated famous short stories for children by a variety of authors. Not dated but appears to be from around 1930. It is described as being in eight volumes and on the last page this copy states "End of Volume 1" however the 70 stories within this book are arranged into 8 sections. There is an unused ex-libris plate bound in before the half title page There is evidence of previous ownership on the top right of the half title page and also sadly on the front board. There is a facsimile folded reproduction of "The Children's Hour" handwritten by Longfellow bound in after the introduction although the second sheet of this has a significant tear. Some wear to the corners of the boards but otherwise a clean and tidy copy. All orders processed promptly and shipped from the UK.
