‎Generalkarte von Zentraleuropa / Generalcarte von Centraleuropa / 1:300 000 / 1 : 300. 000. Die Generalkarte von Central Europa erschien in den Jahren 1873 bis 1876, sie ist das Werk von Joseph Ritter von Scheda (1815-1888) Nach seiner milit?rischen Ausbildung in Graz, wurde recht bald seine besonderen F?higkeiten f?r das Kartenzeichnen erkannt. Ab 1842 begann seine steile Karriere beim Wiener Milit?rgeographischen Institut. Zun?chst Leiter der Lithographischen Abteilung des Wiener Milit?rgeographischen Instituts sp?ter zeitweise auch der Kupferstichabteilung. War er ab 1869 Chef der Abteilungen Topographie, Lithographie und Kupferstich somit der gesamte Bereich der kartographischen Arbeiten des Instituts. Sein unerm?dliches Bestreben um Verbesserung der technischen und inhaltlichen Qualit?t der Karten trug er wesentlich zur Begr?ndung des Weltrufs des Wiener Milit?rgeographischen Instituts bei. Der hier angebotenen Karte gingen folgende Arbeiten voraus: 1845-47 General-Karte von Europa in 25 Bl?ttern Lithographie, General-Karte des ?sterreich. Kaiserstaates mit einem grossen Theile der angr?nzenden L?nder 20 Blatt in Kupferstich 1: 576 000, in der 2. Auflage 1870-1871 General-Karte von Central-Europa in 47 Bl?ttern, wobei diese Kartenwerke nach eigenen Zeichnungen Schedas im Institut auf seine Kosten produziert wurden. Wegen der hervorragenden Qualit?t wurde konnte die 1 : 576 000 Karte auf dem Ma?stab 1 : 300 000 vergr??ert werden, wodurch mit einem Schlage 207 Bl?tter der Generalkarte vorlagen. Vgl. ‎Contemporary manuscript transcription on paper watermarked 1818 of a satirical political poster from Brighton by 'Edward Thunder' produced for the Sussex election held at Chichester in 1820.‎

‎Watermark 1818; Circa 1820. The original printed by 'Fleet Printer Brighton'. Folio 1 p. On paper watermarked 'J WHATMAN 1818'. Written out in a very neat hand over thirty lines over the 'signature' 'Edward Thunder.' and with the printer's slug reproduced in the bottom left-hand corner.Begins 'How I Mourn For the Blindness of my Countrymen!' The writer expresses outrage that the electors are 'endeavouring to send those to form the next Parliament who are likely to increase instead of diminish this never-to-be discharged National Debt.'
