As the Cold War ensued Paris emerged as one of the foremost photographic chroniclers of everyday life in the German Democratic Republic GDR. Her first book Gesichter: Frauen in der DRR Faces: Women in the GDR is a purposeful and intimate series of portraits of East Germans in their quotidian spaces.
