Two works on English history by Matthew Paris both published from Paris' original manuscripts. The Historia Anglorum was written in 1250 compiled by Paris from his greater work a world history but including additional information. The history begins with William the Conqueror and concludes in 1253 during the reign of Henry III. The Abbreviato Chronicorum Angliae begins with the marriage of Ethelred in 1002 ending in 1252 with a continuation in another monk's hand to 1255. This history is an abridged version of the Historia Anglorum but with alterations and insertions containing new matter or giving the opinion of the author.
