Matthew's views of European politics were rare consistent from work to work as he often praised Frederick II and despised the papacy but would write the opposite in other works. In '<em>Majora</em>' Matthew analyzes major world events beginning with creation through the year 1253 most of which is based on Roger of Wendover's '<em>Flores Historiarum</em>.'
