Lovely copy of a beautifully constructed, comprehensive and detailed pocket plan. The double-page maps comprise Paris, the Metro, 20 individual arrondissements, three arrondissements with detailed insets, and the Bois de Boulogne. The large coloured map depicts Paris by arrondissement (obverse) and metro lines and autobus routes (reverse). The two parallel tabbing systems (streets & localities, and maps) enable one to pinpoint any given location simply and easily. Very scarce in this condition.

Ejected from his position as Minister of the Scottish Kirk in Paris, he relocated to Marseilles where he turned the British Seamen's Mission into a vital link in the chain for escaping POWs and soldiers returning from Dunkirk. He was eventually denounced (by a British traitor), captured and passed through seven prisons including the infamous 'Villa Lynwood' in Nice where was held at the same time as Odette Hallowes. The sale featured the Wilfried Piollet Collection of designs for costumes and decor for the Casino de Paris, during the years 1920 to 1935. Artists and designers included Barbier, Brunelleschi, Paul Colin, J.G. Domergue, Erte (22 lots), Gontcharova, and Zinoviev among others. 133 lots in the sale. All illustrated in black & white. This is a very good softcover copy in the original publisher's cream colored stiff paper covers, with a color illustration by Mariette Lydis tipped on, and with the clear plastic covers and comb binding intact. Very clean inside, light spotting outside. One photo has some offsetting to the white page opposite, some slight loss of color to the photo.Text in French. This is a program, published by the French magazine, Le Jour. It was issued on the occasion of a ball at the Opera on February 6, 1934. Printed by Draeger Freres, with color drawings by Mariette Lydis, Marie Laurencin, Vertes, Alexieff and Bret Koch among others. Article by Colette on Mariette Lydis. Photographs of movie stars and actresses throughout are printed with a special process, almost like silver or metal sheets. The process is called 'papier metallise'. Stars include Marlene Dietrich, Jean Harlow, Marcelle Chantal, Dolly Davis, among others. One sheet has a textile swatch printed with a light brown woodcut by Guinhald. This is a very good hardcover copy in the original marbled paper-covered boards with the title-page print reproduced and tipped-on to the front cover. Leather spine tooled in gilt with an elaborate device and title. Covers rubbed, edge wear and wear to top and bottom of spine. The map of Paris and 60 engravings (complete) are generally clean, but some light foxing and soil. Beautifully engraved plates ca.1820, engraved by Couche fils, depict well known monuments in Paris as well as other parts of France. Most plates are of Paris. Now in a mylar wrap in the French style. This is a very good softcover copy with almost no wear. Completely clean inside and out. Text in French. This is a sale catalog for an auction held at Sotheby Parke Bernet in Monaco on February 14, 1983. The sale consisted of several collections of antique 'papiers peints' or painted wallpapers and painted textiles. Lots 1 through 85 are from the Collection de la Maison Maigret, 114 lots in the Collection Vital-Durand from Lyon. The themes of the painted papers range from still lifes with floral motifs, neo-classical architectural decorations, some figures from myth, like Cupid and Psyche, Le Jardin d'Armide painted by Edouard Muller.
