Bowie David
Essere ribelli
br.

Paris: A. Quantin 1881. 1881. Very good. - Octavo three-quarter blue morocco and marbled boards titled in gilt with raised bands on the spine. The top edge is gilt. The spine is faded to light green and the corners are bumped. The covers are also slightly rubbed. x & 356 deckle-edged pages illustrated with a pictorial title as frontispiece and 4 etchings. There is a short tear to the front edge of the front blank. The title page and the front edge of the first page is darkened. The edge of another leaf is soiled. A very small piece of paper dislodged from the facing blank page has adhered to the bottom of the title page. A very good partially unopened copy. <p>A fascinating character study of the audience which subscribes to the opera. A list of those subscribers and season ticket holders most of whom occupy the private balconies is often accompanied by brief biographical notes. The author has occasionally quoted the text of those more interesting letters which some noble has written when renewing his subscription. On more than one occasion the author alludes to some scandals which have been written down about these high society folk. Paris: A. Quantin, 1881. hardcover

BOZ (Charles Dickens), words by, and J Hullah, music by
Sheet music: There’s a Charm in Spring
Philadelphia: A. Fiot 1855. Softcover. Very Good. Unknown edition likely a later printing. Folio. Single bifolium with a single-sheet-insert making six pages. Notched and worn along the spine from once being bound within an album soiling throughout and some light edgewear still a complete and very good copy. For voice and piano. The front cover states "As sung by Mr. Braham." Unlike most sheet music associated with Charles Dickens this song comes from an actual collaboration Dickens had with the composer John Hullah. This song is from their comic opera The Village Coquettes. The show premiered in 1836 and ran for 19 nights in London before moving to Edinburgh where it was performed under new direction. The reviews were less than favorable and over time Dickens grew to agree with them once stating that he "wouldn’t repeat his productions for a thousand pounds apiece" and he reportedly wished for his foray into theater The Village Coquettes and a piece called The Strange Gentleman to be forgotten completely F.G. Kitton. We know of two other editions of this song thought to be published around the same time but OCLC does not locate any physical holdings of this edition published by A. Fiot though they do record one digital holding and it appears to be equally scarce in the trade. A. Fiot unknown

Not afraid. L'evoluzione di Eminem
ill., br.
