Februar 1809). Am erfolgreichsten waren seine Posse "Die Proberollen" (EA Mannheim 27. November 1808) und sein Quodlibet "Der Kapellmeister von Venedig oder Der Schein trügt" (mit Musik von F. A. Hoffmeister, G. Rossini, W. A. Mozart und J. Haydn).

Chi lo conosce sa che nei suoi scritti profonde riflessioni sui problemi dell'interpretazione musicale si alternano ad aneddoti, considerazioni sulla tecnica pianistica a sapide testimonianze sui rapporti ora idilliaci ora burrascosi con direttori d'orchestra e cantanti: e questo vademecum lo conferma.
