Meine neue Oper 'Das steinerne Herz' hat in Hamburg grossen Erfolg, was sich am besten darin ausspricht, dass in diesem Monat 7 Vorstellungen der Oper dort stattfanden [...]" (30. I. 1889). Die Oper "Das steinerne Herz" war im Jahr zuvor in Wien uraufgeführt worden. - "Gestatten Sie mir, Ihnen für Ihre so freundliche Besprechung meines im Concert Rée gespielten 'Duo' im gestrigen N. W. Abendbl. wärmstens zu danken. Dass Ihnen das Stück gefiel, ist mir sehr werthvoll u. erfreulich [...]" (14. I. 1892). Das erwähnte Duo, das sich Frey zu Folge "mit Recht einer äußerst günstigen Aufnahme erfreute" und "allgemeinen und lauten Beifall" (Neues Wiener Abendblatt, 13. I. 1892, S. 4) hervorrief, wurde von Louis und Susanne Rée dargeboten. - Jeweils mit Rundstempel der Handschriftensammlung J. K. Riess.
