br. Gli Scritti di Béla Bartók rappresentano un solido punto di riferimento per la teoria e il metodo nello studio del folklore musicale. Fin dal 1905 Bartók, in compagnia di Zoltàn Kodàly, ha raccolto migliaia di melodie contadine, artigiane e pastorali del Sud-Est europeo (ungheresi, rumene, slovacche, serbe, croate, turche, rutene) alla ricerca di un proprio spessore culturale e di una propria identità etnica. Le indagini scientifiche di Bartók sono state e sono utili non solo nei paesi dove l'arte popolare ha rappresentato sempre la base di qualsiasi ulteriore sviluppo culturale (come, appunto, quelli dell'Europa orientale e sudorientale da lui esplorati), ma anche nei paesi dove, in determinate occasioni storiche, il folklore è stato un coefficiente più o meno determinante nella formazione delle culture nazionali. In questo senso la modernità dell'indagine di Bartók consiste nello stabilire razionalmente la reale, oggettiva struttura del materiale popolare, e nell'esaminare quindi le occasioni storiche e le varie individualità che con questo materiale possono venire a contatto.

Diese für den Schweizer Dirigenten und Mäzen Paul Sacher geschriebene Auftragsarbeit wurde ein sensationeller Erfolg: "Innerhalb eines Jahres folgten weltweit annähernd 50 Aufführungen unter Dirigenten wie Ernest Ansermet, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Ernst von Dohnányi, John Barbirolli und Eugene Ormándy" (Wikipedia). - Im Titel ein unbedeutender Tintenwischer.

Nell'aprile del 1968 Sergio Liberovici, in Polesine, si trova di fronte una realtà irriducibile al proprio orizzonte di senso, forgiato di esperienze fortemente orientate da un punto di vista ideologico, dai Cantacronache fino alle ricerche condotte assieme a Emilio Jona sul canto sociale e le memorie operaie. Diviso nelle tre isole di Polesine Camerini, Ca' Venier e Donzella, il territorio si profilava come un mondo arretrato ed arcaico: tutti vivevano promiscuamente di attività integrate, per cui era difficile separare gli ambiti economici e le appartenenze sociali, e ognuno gravitava attorno a gruppi di case aggrappate agli argini e imminenti sull'acqua. Liberovici raccoglie una pluralità di voci e suoni che animano un vivace spaccato della fine degli anni Sessanta. A dispetto del suo isolamento, nei circa 200 documenti conservati nella raccolta 117 degli Archivi di Etnomusicologia, si scopre un luogo di incontro dove convergono, dal sud al nord della Penisola, disparate tradizioni musicali, memorie di ex mondine, di rumorosi canti d'osteria, di esuberanti cori spontanei di un paese fluviale e, in particolare, dalla voce di Angela Binatti.
