Flotsam and Jetsam Autograph Signatures together with Autograph self-caricatures.
Without date or place. On piece of paper four inches by three and a half neatly mounted on slightly larger piece of blue paper docketed 'FLOTSAM & JETSAM 2 POPULAR ENTERTAINERS'. The crude caricatures probably by Hilliam rather than McEachern consist of a crude and highly-stylised image of the heads and shoulders of the two looking to the left in hat and cap and both smoking pipes. Beneath is 'Yours very sincerely signed Flotsam and signed Jetsam'. Among the duo's recordings is a comic song entitled 'What was the matter with Rachmaninov' 1927. Without date or place. unknown

Seltenes Beispiel für die Handschrift Flügels in einem Antwortschreiben an einen Freund und Redakteur über den Werdegang und die Einschätzung des Gesangstalents der Auguste Brenken (1834/35-1908) und der Sopranistin Katharine Deutz; außerdem mit der Bitte um die Empfehlung eines jungen Musikers namens Blettner in dem Blatt des Adressaten und über den Beginn des Musikstudiums des Pianisten und Komponisten Wilhelm Freudenberg (1838-1928) in Leipzig: "Frln Deutz hat dem Kammersänger E. Koch in Cöln Alles [dies unterstrichen] zu verdanken, was sie als Sängerin leistet; nur ist Koch kein Makler für Sänger [...] Herrn Freudenbergs Piano wird nun wohl in Leipzig angekommen sein [...] Freudenberg ist entzückt von seiner Musikstätte u. scheint sich in seinem Element zu befinden; grüße ihn doch freundlich von mir [...]". - Gustav Flügel wirkte knapp zehn Jahre als Seminarmusiklehrer in Neuwied, wo er auch der späteren Königin von Rumänien, Elisabeth zu Wied (Carmen Sylva), Klavierunterricht erteilte. Während dieser Zeit verkehrte und korrespondierte Flügel mit den musikalischen Größen der Zeit wie Schumann, Liszt und Brahms, wobei er letzteren dort bereits vor dessen Berühmtheit kennengelernt hatte. Ende der 1850er Jahre wurde Flügel (zusammen mit Richard Wagner) zum Ehrenmitglied des "Ndl. Vereins zur Beförderung der Tonkunst" ernannt. Auch arbeitete er mit an der Zeitschrift "Euterpe" des ihm in Freundschaft verbundenen Pädagogen Ernst Julius Hentschel. - Am Gegenblatt ein unsignierter Brief von anderer Hand mit Redaktionsvermerk in Rotstift. Leichte Randläsuren.
