Quello su Battiato mostra un panorama di fotografie che parte dal 1973 con un servizio realizzato a Bologna in studio e in esterni commissionato dall'etichetta Bla Bla di Pino Massara e seguito da tutta una serie di sessioni realizzate nello studio milanese del fotografo, in sala di incisione, a casa dell'artista, in concerto o particolari performace da Masotti lungo tutti gli anni settanta e inizio ottanta fino ad arrivare ai concerti nei palasport seguiti al successo de La Voce del Padrone o di Patriots che riportano inserite nelle rispettive copertine fotografie frutto dei lavori citati. Questa della pubblicazione sulle cover dei dischi avviene a partire da Sulle corde di Aries, prosegue con Clic e con i dischi sperimentali per Ricordi, poi su quelli della svolta "pop" di successo per EMI per continuare con le antologie più recenti per Universal-Sony.

8vo. 3½ pp. In French. Charming letter to a piano student, apologizing for not having responded earlier and giving a detailed account of current events. Massart admits that she has "neither melted away, alas, nor submerged", although it would have have been "an excellent excuse for my negligence". In fact, she "suffered from neuralgia", was "highly occupied with persistent students", and helped her husband, the violinist Lambert Joseph Massart, with the organization of a competition at the conservatory, which had been "a complete success" at "the price of our sweat". Massart continues to announce a trip to neighbouring Trouville-sur-Mer to meet President Adolphe Thiers: "I am exhilarated to be seeing the President of the Republic in a swimsuit and to float next to him". In closing, she complains of her students' laziness and apologizes for being unable to send a portrait photograph which the recipient had requested: "You will have to content yourself with a profile. It is a shame because I look friendly and I would have wanted to send you a serious and severe attitude". - Whether Massart's announcement of a meeting with Adolphe Thiers was a joke cannot be determined. Nevertheless, the remark dates the letter to 1872, when Thiers spent his summer holiday in Trouville at the Chalet Cordier during his presidency (1871-73). - Louise Aglaé Massart studied at the Paris conservatory from 1838 and won a prize in 1840. Following her first public appearances, she was named court pianist to Helene of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Duchess of Orléans. In 1849 Massart married Joseph Lambert Massart, a renowned violinist and professor at the conservatory. Both Louise and her husband, co-founders of the Société Philharmonique, were close friends with Hector Berlioz. As a pianist, Louise Aglaé Massart was an active interpreter of chamber music. From 1856 to 1867 she played in the "Société Armingaud et Jacquard", concentrating on the chamber music of Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Schumann. In 1874 Massart took over the piano class of Louis Farrenc at the Paris conservatory. Clotilde Kleeberg was her most important student. - On stationery with embossed monogram. Traces of former mounting and minor browning to the upper border.

Sie sang die Hauptrollen in Operetten von Franz Lehár, Oscar Straus - der eigens für sie die "Rose von Stambul (1916) schrieb -, Leo Fall, Jacques Offenbach und vielen anderen. 1926 gastierte sie bei den Salzburger Festspielen als Adele in der "Fledermaus". Nach dem Tod ihres Gatten, des Schauspielers Max Pallenberg, zog sie sich 1934 von der Bühne zurück. 1938 emigrierte sie nach Großbritannien, später in die USA.

Massenet invia questo messaggio di condoglianze a Fano per la morte del padre Alessandro avvenuta a Milano il 31 gennaio 1901. Alessandro Fano, triestino nato nel 1842, aprì un’agenzia teatrale e fondò il celebre periodico “Il Mondo Artistico” insieme a Filippo Filippi.

A letter of thanks to a friend, with an invitation in answer to the recipient's attentiveness concerning a performance of Massenet's opera "Le Cid" which premiered in 1885 and would continue to be revived by the Paris Opera until 1919: "Vous savez toujours trouver le chemin de nos coeurs, à ma femme et à moi - et je tiens, encore cette fois, vous recevoir en bon moment au mieux pour votre nouvelle attentions au sujet du 'Cid' [...]".

Oblong 8vo. 3 pp. on bifolium. To an ambassador, requesting a favour for the singer Sibyl Sanderson, Massenet's inspiration for his opera "Esclarmonde". Sanderson wishes that her boxes of costumes not be opened at the Belgian border: "Il s'agit d'obtenir un mot de protection afin que ses Caisses de Costumes ne soient pas ouvertes à la douane belge. La créatrice d' 'Esclarmonde' doit se rendre à Bruxelles dans quelques jours [...]".
