Leggero alone di antica umidità alle prime due carte. Pagine brunite a causa della qualità della carta. Esemplare ad ampi margini ed ancora in barbe. Probabile prima edizione di questa pubblicazione della "Mélodie Suisse" del grande pianista e compositore viennese, ma parigino d'adozione, Henri Hertz (Vienna, 6 January 1803 - Paris, 5 January 1888). OPERA ASSAI RARA in questa edizione parigina curata da Schonenberger.‎

Beautiful letter to the London-based music publisher Addison & Hodson, offering his "Grande fantaisie brillante" on themes of Donizetti's opera "Lucrezia Borgia", op. 147, for publication in Britain: "Lors de mon dernier voyage à Londres vous m'avez prié de vous faire savoir lorsque je pourrai dispenser d'un MS pour votre maison. Aujourd'hui je viens me rendre à votre désir en vous offrant la propriété pour l'Angleterre d'une nouvelle Fantaisie brillante sur trois des plus beaux motifs de Lucrezia Borgia, si, toutefois cet opéra n'est pas propriété d'une autre maison à Londres ce que vous me feriez plaisir de m'apprendre par le retour de ce courrier. Mon prix pour cet ouvrage qui a 15 pages serait de £20. Si cette affaire ne peut se faire, veuillez me dire si vous seriez disposé pour quelques autres MS [...]". In a short postcriptum, Herz underlines that his piece is "of a very brilliant character". - Addison & Hodson do not appear to have published Herz's composition, probably as they could not obtain publication rights for Lucrezia Borgia. Henri Herz's numerous variations were among the first best-sellers in the history of music publishing. - On stationery with lithographed letterhead of Herz's piano manufacturing company and concert hall. Some foxing and browning; address leaf reinforced in the margins.‎
