Gestattet sich “Ihnen für das neue, zu errichtende Spital den ausgezeichneten Chirurgen u. meinen lieben Freund Herrn Dr. Gustav Egger jun., derzeit Assistent an der Poliklinik u.s.w., als Primarius für die chirurgische Abteilung zu empfehlen [...]” (Br. v. 20. II. 1908). - “Ich las heute, daß auf Ihre Befürwortung hin, den Philharmonikern eine Unterstüzung zuteil geworden. Schade nur, daß hieran nicht die Bedingung geknüpft werden konnte, wenigstens einen deutschen u. zugleich christlichen Komponisten [...] aufzuführen, womit ich meine Wenigkeit meine [...]” (Br. v. 17. IV. 1914). - Am Prager Konservatorium zum Harfenisten ausgebildet, studierte Horn später bei Anton Bruckner in Wien und wurde nach der Staatsprüfung für Musik Gesangslehrer an einem Wiener Gymnasium, 1918 wurde er Professor der Harmonielehre an der Wiener Akademie für Musik und darstellende Kunst, leitete den Musikverein "Haydn", veranstaltete Wagner- und Liszt-Abende und betätigte sich als Musikkritiker des ‘Deutschen Volksblatts’. Zu seinem Werk zählen über 100 Chorwerke, Lieder und Gedichte (u. a. ‘Harfners Sang’, 1924) sowie zwei Symphonien. Vgl. MGG XVI, 734f. und Czeike III, 267. - Zwei Br. mit gestemp. Nachdem die ganze Handlung durchaus aus den Characteren der handelnden Personen resultirt und der Humor des Werkes weit entfernt von Wortwitzen und possenhaften Situationen, gleichfalls nur dem Wesen der einzelnen Gestalten entspringt, dürfte diese Bearbeitung des Textbuches für die deutsche Bühne - selbstverständlich - einer sachkundigen, bewährten Hand gelingen, aber über dieses Thema noch mündlich .....
