Met zijn interieur ge nspireerd op de roaring twenties werd het een pleisterplek voor een kleurrijk en gemengd publiek, van kunstenaars en wetenschappers tot vrijdenkende drinkebroers, die zich thuis voelden in die warme cocon. Aan het roer stonden Motte en Guido Claus, een vorstelijk duo dat het woelige schip elke keer weer door de nacht laveerde, met landelijke renommee en echo's tot in de Amsterdamse grachtengordel toe. Daar zal de aanwezigheid van Guido's broer, Hugo Claus, zeker een rol in gespeeld hebben. In dit boek vertellen we de geschiedenis van het caf en graven 35 notoire Hotsy Totsygangers in hun herinneringen. Onder meer Jessie De Caluwe, Kurt Van Eeghem, Herman Brusselmans, Josse De Pauw, Pjeroo Roobjee, Frank Liefooghe, Herman Balthazar, Guido Lauwaert, Vera Vermeersch, Zaki, Mugo en Jean Paul van Bendegem getuigen. ‎Summary This book investigates the global histories of video game sound from the perspective of technology. Technology and video game sound are inextricably intertwined, whether through the creation of the actual sounds, their sonic enactment through the games and consoles, or through their reception and performance outside of the games themselves. Technology and game sound have been the focus of several studies, but those studies have generally maintained a Euro-American and Japanese bias. This volume seeks to begin broadening our perspective by opening up the conversation to and with game sound scholars, practitioners, and specialists from around the world. The contributions in this volume thus speak not only to the most commonly told American, UK, and Japanese histories, but also past and present practices in Spain, France, Germany, Latin America, and Africa. The volume is divided into three sections. The first focuses on the relationships between technology and the development of game sound, from early pinball sounds (Neil Lerner) to the interplay between performance practice, notation, and technology in rhythm games (Alex Habeen Chang). The second part investigates the impact of geographical, economic, and political structures on the development and consumption of game sound. Lasse Lehtonen provides a sweeping historiography of Japanese writing on video game technology and sound, while other chapters scrutinize Spanish game development in the 1980s (Juan Pablo Fern ndez-Cort s) and evaluate the use of motion capture in Red Dead Redemption 2 (Barnabas Smith). ‎* Vladimír Karbusický (* 9. April 1925 in Velim; ? 23. Mai 2002 in Hamburg) war ein tschechischer Musikwissenschaftler. Als Jugendlicher wurde Karbusický in den Jahren 1944?45 als Zwangsarbeiter nach Hamburg verschleppt. Nach dem Krieg holte er das Abitur nach und begann zunächst Maschinenbau zu studieren. Er wechselte jedoch das Fach und studierte 1948?52 Musikwissenschaft, Ästhetik und Philosophie an der Karlsuniversität Prag. Er promovierte im Jahr 1953 mit einer Untersuchung der Geschichte des Arbeiterliedes. 1964 wurde er mit einer Arbeit zum gleichen Thema Kandidat der Wissenschaften. Nach dem Prager Frühling musste er seine Tätigkeit an der Akademie der Wissenschaften in Prag aufgeben und emigrierte 1969. Habilitiert wurde er 1975 an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Rheinland. Er lehrte außerdem in Wuppertal und Aachen. 1976 wechselte er nach Hamburg, wo er bis 1990 einen Lehrstuhl für systematische Musikwissenschaft innehatte.Karbusický veröffentlichte musikwissenschaftliche, historische und philosophische Schriften. Er galt als Strukturalist. Die Schrift Anfänge der historischen Überlieferung in Böhmen entstand in den Jahren 1955 bis 1966 und wurde zunächst in der Bundesrepublik in deutscher Übersetzung veröffentlicht. Der Zensur wegen konnte es in Prag erst 1995 publiziert werden. Die Empirische Musiksoziologie von 1975 und die Systematische Musikwissenschaft von 1979 wurden zu anerkannten Standardwerken der jeweiligen Disziplinen. (Quelle Wikipedia)‎
