Anzeigen Ihr Verlag 'Sixtin. Capelle v. E. Schelle' zur Recension angetragen - ich habe mich dem gern unterzogen, nachdem ich allgemeine Einsicht genommen. Nun aber fehlt sonderbarer Weise [...] im Texte der zweite Bogen p 17-32 [...] Da mir nun dran gelegen ist baldmöglich den Bericht zu vollenden, so bitte ich Sie hierdurch inständig um rasche, möglich[st] umgehende Sendung jenes Bogens p[er] Kreuzband. Eine andere Bitte wiegt schwerer, worauf ich wo nicht sogleich doch baldige Antwort wünsche. Ich möchte Ihrem geschätzten Verlag mein neuestes (die älteren kennen Sie nicht!-) Opus anbieten [...]". - Eduard Krüger war Gründer eines Gesangvereins, mit dem er vor allem Oratorien Haydns und Händels aufführte, und betätigte sich als Mitarbeiter musikalischer Fachzeitschriften und Musikkritiker. "Seit 1838 war Krüger mit Robert Schumann bekannt, dessen neuromantische Reformideen er in seinen Publikationen unterstützte ('Beiträge für Leben und Wissenschaft der Tonkunst', 1847). Krüger redigierte 1848 vorübergehend die 'Neue Hannoversche Zeitung'. Nach seiner Berufung als akademischer Musikdirektor an die Univ. Göttingen wurde ihm 1861 der Professorentitel verliehen. Mit Max Herold und Ludwig Friedrich Schöberlein gründete Krüger 1876 die kirchenmusikalische Zeitschrift 'Siona'; außerdem gab er die Zeitschrift 'Frisia' heraus. Später widmete sich Krüger der Katalogisierung des musikalischen Bestandes der Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen" (DBE).

<p>Berlin November 20 1908. 1908. Very good. - Jan Kubelik's autograph boldly penned & dated "20-XI-1908" on a 3-1/4 inch high by 4-1/2 inch wide card mounted and framed below an original 5-1/2 inch high by 3-1/2 inch wide original photograph by the Berlin studio of Otto Becker & Maass. The sienna-toned portrait depicts the great violinist in three-quarter profile from the chest up. Attired in a dark three piece suit and tie over a white shirt Kubelik rests his head on his left hand as he pensively looks towards the camera. The photograph and autographed card are attractively matted & framed in a 14-5/8 inch high by 9-1/2 inch wide gilt frame. Near fine.</p><p>The great Czech violinist and composer Jan Kubelik 1880-1940 is mentioned in Carl Sandburg's "Chicago Poems" published in 1916 and in Robert Ludlum's "The Janson Directive" published in 2002. He was the father of the conductor Rafael Kubelik.</p> [Berlin], November 20, 1908.

Soviel aus der Skizze zu entnehmen ist, macht die Sache einen sehr versprechenden Eindruck, doch mu[ss] [ich mit] Dr. Batkas Worten übereinstimmend sagen, dass der volle Erfolg erst von der vollen Ausführung abhängen wird. - Ich wäre Ihnen verbunden, wenn Sie mir das angesagte Sujet zu einer Operette senden würden; eine Operette wäre schneller fertig als Oper - der Herbst ist bald da! [...]" - Kubelik bestand 18jährig die Abschlußprüfung am Prager Konservatorium mit dem Konzert op. 6 von Paganini. "Bei seinem ersten ausländischen Konzert in Wien (ebenfalls 1898) mit demselben Konzert erregte er wahre Sensation und wurde von M. Kalbeck als 'einer der ersten im Reiche des Violinspiels' klassifiziert. Dies war der Beginn einer glänzenden, 42 Jahre dauernden und über die ganze Welt reichenden künstlerischen Laufbahn" (MGG VII, 1846). 1902 erhielt er die goldene Beethoven-Medaille, "die vor ihm unter den Violinisten nur J. Joachim und E. Ysaye erwarben" (ebd.). - Auf Briefpapier mit gedr. Absenderadresse. - Leicht angestaubt und fingerfleckig; die gerundeten Kanten tls. stark berieben bzw. mit kl. Ein- und Ausrissen.

To the music journalist Baudouin La Londre in Paris concerning the publication of an article on Émile Jacques-Dalcroze's symphonic "Poème Alpestre" in Kufferath's "Le Guide musicale", one of the most important classical music periodicals at the time: "Votre petit article sur le Poème Alpestre nous est arrivé trop tard pour passer dans le numéro de demain. Je le mettrai en bibliographie dans le numéro de dimanche prochain. Pour votre gouverne nous reparaissons tous les 8 jours à date de ce numéro. Dalcroze m'a envoyé ses articles sur la Comedie Lyrique. Très intéressant. [...]". - The Swiss composer Émile Jacques-Dalcroze (1865-1950) is best known today as a pioneering music educator. The Dalcroze eurhythmics teaches concepts of rhythm, structure, and musical expression using movement. Still in use today, the system also heavily influenced Carl Orff's groundbreaking pedagogy. - Some foxing.

The card is lightly soiled & scraps of gray paper adhere to the verso where it has been removed from an album. Good. <p>Apparently in the process of preparing a concert program Kuhe writes to a Mr. Mayer: "I shall put down all three Hungarian songs for Mr. Plunkett Green in a good position with Mr. Baird's name as accompanist. Kindly let me have the words as well as those of Jess Macfarlane at your earliest convenience."<p>Born and trained in Prague Czech pianist William Kuhe 1823-1912 visited England for the first time at the age of 22. Two years later he returned there as accompanist to the great singer Jenny Lind. In 1871 he established the Brighton music festival aiming he wrote "to emulate the example of Mr. Manns at Sydenham and produce whenever the opportunity presented itself works by English composers".
