Die Operette wird ein großes Geschäft hier machen [...]”. - 1883 kam der in Graslitz (Böhmen) geborene Dellinger an das 1858 gegründete Carl Schultze-Theater in Hamburg, wo er fast zehn Jahre tätig sein und seine ersten Operetten (‘Don Cesar’, 1885, ‘Lorraine’, 1886) komponieren und zur Aufführung bringen sollte. Nach diesen für Dellinger so produktiven wie erfolgreichen Jahren in Hamburg wurde der mit der Operettensängerin Anna Maria Eppich (1864-1919) verheiratete Künstler nach Dresden verpflichtet, wo er 1910 im Alter von 53 Jahren geistig umnachtet sterben sollte. “Die Wiener Operettenklassik endete mit dem Schaffen von Dellinger. Allein mit seinem einmaligen Ständchen ‘Komm’ herab, o Madonna Teresa’ (‘Don Cesar’) errang er Weltgeltung und Unvergänglichkeit [...]” (MGG XV, 1751). - Der in Trebitsch (Mähren) geborene J. Wild (geb. 1849) trat unter Direktor Franz Tome (gest. 1872) 1868 in Linz erstmals auf die Bühne, spielte bis 1877 in zahlreichen größeren österreichischen uind deutschen Städten und gründete anschließend eine Theater- und Konzertagentur. Un viaggio attraverso gli occhi di ragazzini cresciuti in fretta in quei quartieri popolari, in quei paesi dell'hinterland, dove si affacciano alla vita, si innamorano della musica e della politica. Quei ragazzini sono Luca 'o Zulù, Massimo Jrm, Marco Messina e Sacha Ricci, ma anche tanti altri che hanno condiviso pezzi del loro cammino, come Meg, i Bisca e Sergio Maglietta, Speaker Cenzou e Valerio Jovine, Caparezza e Clementino, J-Ax e Subsonica, Roy Paci ed Ensi. La base di partenza è il centro sociale Officina 99, l'anno il 1991, quando una band nata quasi per caso - con un forte imprinting politico - inizia il percorso che la porterà a diventare fenomeno mediatico e campione di vendite. "Curre curre guagliò" è anche la storia degli ultimi decenni, vista dalla prospettiva di tutti i protagonisti: ci sono gli anni Settanta e gli echi della rivolta; gli Ottanta, con la sconfitta del sogno rivoluzionario e la Resistenza sotterranea; il punk, le prime esperienze all'estero, gli squat di Londra, il vecchio Leoncavallo, il Tienament di Soccavo. Delmas agrees to a change of a note to be sung and tries to mitigate damage caused by a misunderstanding between him and a Mr. Laisney, possibly the composer Victor Laisney, as Delmas "was absolutely ignorant" of the fact that Laisney "was a conductor". Finally, Delmas wants to hire an unnamed singer with a "formidable and splendid soprano voice" for the concert, although Germaine Cernay had already been engaged. So as not to offend Cernay, whom he praises as diligent, Delmas considers splitting the solos between the two singers. - With collector's notes in pencil.

Scrive l'arcivescovo: "La liturgia senza canti diventa una monotonia di parola: il mistero grande di Dio e della Pasqua di Gesù si offre anche in una liturgia unicamente parlata, anche in un'assemblea dispersa e depressa. Ma il mistero comunica una gioia che domanda di farsi canto, musica, danza, sorrisi, abbracci. Perciò la gioia è un po' compressa e velata quando le cautele impongono distanze, la trascuratezza non predispone un canto, l'incompetenza e l'improvvisazione diventano suoni scombinati". Oltre ad esprimere la riconoscenza a coloro che animano e rendono solenne con il canto e la musica le celebrazioni, mons. Delpini insieme a tanta gratitudine esprime nella lettera alcune raccomandazioni.

Interesting letter to the composer Napoléon Henri Reber, asking him to accompany Delsarte to an audition of some students of Émile-Joseph-Maurice Chevé who seem to have received lessons from Delsarte himself: "Je vais, demain soir, entendre les élèves de Chevé conformément à la promesse que je leur ai faite. Voulez-vous y venir avec moi ? Je voudrais pour beaucoup vous voir assister à cette audition car je suis persuadé que vous seriez charmé des résultats déjà obtenus. [...] J'espère que vous ne m'objecterez pas quel qu'empêchement car, je vous le répète, je tiens infiniment à vous rendre juge des efforts que nous pouvons attendre l'hiver prochain. Tout le monde, d'ailleurs, vous saura bon gré de cette dimarche". - The letter points to a connection between the two eminent singing teachers Chevé and Delsarte. Apparently, Chevé gave Delsarte the opportunity to test his experimental methods of singing and voice training with his own students. Unlike Chevé, who was co-founder of the Galin-Paris-Chevé-Method, Delsarte did not commit to writing any of his innovative teaching methods. It was through his American student, the actor Steele MacKaye, that Delsarte's methods were introduced to the U.S. Together with his student Genevieve Stebbins, MacKaye developed the extremely popular Delsarte system of expression. br. Anche l'Italia di Mussolini, con l'ingresso in guerra, aprì dei campi di concentramento, e quasi tutti gli ebrei stranieri presenti nel Paese vennero arrestati per esservi condotti. Non pochi di loro erano artisti - specialmente musicisti - che nell'Italia avevano visto generalmente l'ideale "patria dell'arte". Questo volume ripercorre le vicende di alcune tra le più significative figure di musicisti ebrei internati in Italia, uomini perseguitati per anni: prima nelle loro nazioni d'origine, poi anche nel Belpaese. Uomini nei quali la volontà di fare musica "nonostante tutto" non venne fiaccata dall'internamento fascista e neppure dalle non poche difficoltà del dopoguerra e del ritorno alla "vita normale". Molti di loro riuscirono a scrivere musica, a insegnarla, a reperire strumenti musicali e spartiti. Riuscirono a formare cori e orchestre di internati, per mantenere e ricreare, con la musica, un'identità culturale e umana che era stata violata dalle persecuzioni razziali. Cambridge MA: June 21 1940. 1940. Good. - Magazine advertisement approximately 4 inches high by 7-1 /4 inches wide illustrated with a black-and-white portrait of Delzell. Signed in blue ink "Frederic Delzell". There is staining to the verso with some offsetting to the right margin of the portrait not affecting the image or the signature. There is light creasing & very light offsetting to the text portion of the ad. Good. <p>The ad is promoting a performance by Delzell "Young American Conductor" as guest conductor of the Boston Symphony Pops at Symphony Hall Boston on June 21 1940. The photographic portrait shows him at three-quarters length wearing evening dress and holding a baton.<p>Frederic Delzell was a pianist as well as organist and choir director of the Episcopal Church in Boston.
