Stabat Mater
brossura Eugenio de Ligniville (1730-1788) fu "Ciamberlano e Direttore della Musica della Real Corte di Toscana" a Firenze presso Pietro Leopoldo d'Asburgo per quasi trent'anni, dal 1759 al 1787, incarico parallelo, ma di maggior prestigio, rispetto a quello di "maestro di cappella" per diversi anni ricoperto dal conterraneo Charles Antoine Campion.Il suo Stabat Mater, bell'esempio di studio di tecnica contrappuntistica, lo mise all'epoca in ottima luce con l'Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, diretta da padre Giovanni Battista Martini ed ebbe una discreta diffusione tra i musicisti contemporanei, tanto da impressionare il giovane Mozart (in visita a Firenze per qualche giorno nel 1770) che ne avrebbe riutilizzato diversi estratti nel suo Kyrie KV 89. Qui si ripropongono in trascrizione i 30 canoni (20 strofe oltre all'Amen, in varie formazioni, sempre a tre voci, dai 3 soprani ai tre contralti, due soprani e un contralto, contralto, tenore e basso, ecc...) che compongono lo Stabat Mater: alcune strofe sono ripetute con variazioni strutturali sul tema del canone, dal canone infinito al canone retrogrado, da quello per moto contrario a quello all'unisono.

Il libro è frutto dell'intrusione di un non addetto ai lavori in un ambito tematico che può apparire ostico: la teoria musicale. Avrebbe potuto avere il titolo: "Teoria della musica raccontata a chi ne sa poco o niente". Quello scelto è per pura necessità di sintesi e di grafica ma il significato rimane lo stesso.Ecco, il senso dell'intrusione è proprio questo: raccontare, nonostante non si sia un addetto, di suoni consonanti e dissonanti, di melodia, di armonia, di accordi e delle note che li formano, del tempo ritmico e perfino dell'interpretazione/lettura del pentagramma in forma accessibile e comunque rigorosa.D'altro canto, l'immagine di copertina è la metafora dell'intrusione che è alla base del libro: la storia del viaggio di un non musico, il cocomero di peluche, nel mondo della teoria musicale, la frutta vera ossia i musicisti veri. L'autore vive a Sora (Fr) e lavora a Roma, ferroviere e laureato in ingegneria meccanica ha realizzato la stesura del libro nel corso dei viaggi quotidiani su treno pendolare. br. «La mia storia ha un inizio preciso: 2 maggio 1977, giorno in cui viene trasmesso sull'allora Primo canale Rai il famoso film "Anastasia", con Ingrid Bergman e Yul Brynner. Sono nato cieco e ho il mio modo di "guardare" i film attraverso i suoni. Così all'età di nove anni, ho sentito nominare per la prima volta la parola "Russia" e mi sono subito lasciato affascinare. Da quel giorno ho seguito il fil rouge della Russia per tutto il resto della mia vita cercando risposte. In realtà sono state le risposte a trovare me. Con gli anni sono diventato un musicista e arrangiatore, perché proprio la musica fu quella chiave più naturale datami per scoprire il mio legame con la Russia, ma non solo: non sapevo che quel famoso giorno sarebbe diventato anche la porta dietro la quale mi attendeva il destino». Così l'autore, rivolgendosi direttamente ai lettori, li conduce nel suo percorso di vita.
