RICE WG W G
Carillon Music and Singing Towers of the Old World and the New. THE UK EDITION
John Lane the Bodley Head 1926. 8vo. First Edition with frontispiece in photogravure original tissue guard present title in blue and black 79 sepia-toned plates several musical notations maps and diagrams in the text free endpapers moderately browned; original buff cloth upper board with frame border in brown backstrip blocked and lettered in brown red top covers lightly dust-soiled backstrip faded but all lettering just legible else a very good clean copy. Rice's third work on carillons and the most extended in coverage. Although produced by an eminent publisher the UK edition is curiously scarce; its US counterpart is commonplace by comparison. Rice was the first author to document in English the history and techniques of carillon music; this is arguably his most important work. EXTREMELY SCARCE. John Lane the Bodley Head, hardcover
