Ha dirigido varios proyectos de investigación nacionales y regionales sobre sociolingüística, dialectología social, variación lingüística y lingüística de corpus. Forma parte del Editorial Board de la Serie: Studies in Language Variation (John Benjamins) y del comité científico y asesor de varias revistas de la especialidad (Oralia, ELUA, Revista de Filología, Entreculturas). Es miembro del comité científico de la International Conference on Language Variation and Change (ICLaVE) y ha participado en los trabajos de la red de investigación del la European Science Foundation (ESF) sobre dialectología social (Convergence and Divergence of dialects in Europe). Fue organizador local del Summer School on Convergence and Divergence of dialects en Málaga (1998). Plats à motifs sombres, gardes marbrées. Belle indication gravée en doré "J.-B. Garnier", l'un des plus grands libraires franco-brésiliens de l'époque, au premier contreplat. Avant-propos et table des matières en tête de volume. Médecin, anthropologue et criminologue, Étienne-Émile Adolphe Dortel (1858-1909) s'oppose ici ouvertement au grand criminologue de l'époque Cesare Lombroso en affirmant que "le criminel-né n'existe pas". Le livre est un essai polémique pointant le caractère non conclusif des études anthropométriques de Lombroso sur des criminels. Si Dortel admet quelques concessions, par exemple que "la hauteur de la face est plus importante chez les criminels", il s'intéresse beaucoup plus aux facteurs psychologiques du crime et aux motivations des déviants : "Ce qui domine peut-être dans le criminel c'est la vanité, une vanité absurde, démesurée. Ils tirent vanité de tout, de leur courage, de leur beauté, de leur vigueur, de leurs amours, de leurs richesses, de leurs exploits, de leurs condamnations. La conséquence de ce sentiment c'est d'abord une inclination à la vengeance pour les causes les plus futiles ; ensuite une cruauté que rien n'apaise. Quand ils ont une fois goûté cet horrible plaisir de faire couler le sang, tuer devient un besoin impérieux." (p. 46)‎

International migration is one of the prominent facts in the contemporary world, which affects the political, socio-economic and cultural processes both in origin and destination countries. Historically, Western Europe has been one of the most attractive destinations for migrants because of the level of socio-economic development and political stability. However, there are many complex institutional, socio-economic and cultural issues to be addressed to achieve the integration of migrants and to eliminate social inequalities between the native populations and migrants in these host countries. In this respect, this book examines some aspects of socio-economic disparities between native populations and the migrants in Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. Different migration histories, labour market features and welfare state characteristics of these countries are expected to provide insight about how the integration-related and inequality-related issues emerge in diverse social and institutional settings. The study covers the empirical analyses of the disparities in the labour market and accessing the social benefits between 2004 and 2016 by using comparable cross- country survey data. These analyses attempt to demonstrate the relationships between these two domains.
