Oblong crown quarto 23x29 cm. Decorative wall inspirational poster printed in black within decorative orange border with black motif. Comprising of 8 stanzas with 4 lines each. Mounted as issued on thick cardboard, beveled edges covered with patterned gold paper, secured hanging hook at back. In a very good condition. ~ Rare original inspirational artifact as spiritual support for the deaf. Written in the form of a long poem, it was printed in Holland by the American Acousticon and Dictograph Company. The text, rather optimistic and lighthearted, attempts to show the positive in every misfortune: "Bear thus, Oh Deaf, your cross so light / When on this world you roam / As you won't need to carry it / Hereafter, in God's home!" The composer of this poem is Victor Ernst Ketjen (1879-1941). An illustrious personality, this American-Dutch former sea captain was in 1923 co-founder of Acousticon in the Netherlands. Extremely uncommon, no reference could be found in any data base.

He invented the modern otoscope and devised the first modern mastoid operation which was first performed in England in 1868 by Hinton. Tröltsch was a co-founder of the Archiv für Ohrenheilkunde.
