Following Starrett's Introduction is a b&w plate by Wallace Smith with spider web-patterned overlay. A book plate designed by Miguel Covarrubias for Donald S. Freidl is affixed to the front pastedown. Pott 8vo; blank and half-title precede integral frontispiece; other illustrations in text; final blank; pp.54ii; faintly mottled olive green fine rough buckram blocked and lettered gilt on front cover; t.e.g. others uncut; end-papers printed with marbling in very pale lavender. Virtually fine copy in original tissue dust-wrapper somewhat frayed. Includes ‘Strange Roads’ and ‘With the Gods in Spring’ both titles appearing on the cover. Despite the title-page only the first essay is illustrated by Joseph Simpson. The second with its own half-title and fly-title bears the legend ‘Sketches by H.R. Millar’. Printed on toned mould-made paper. The book correctly does not include a statement of the limitation.
