Arthur Henry Sarsfield Ward � mostly known as Sax Rohmer � created Dr. Fu Manchu Master Criminal and all-round bad guy the star of a world-wide conspiracy known as the Yellow Peril. Denis Nayland Smith and his associate Dr. Petrie were on a quest to rid the world of Fu Manchu. Rohmer�s first published novel was The Mystery of Dr. Fu Manchu published in 1913 and while he wrote a lot of other novels Fu Manchu was popular through thirteen more novels as well as an assortment of other works written by other authors. The first Fu Manchu movie was done in 1923 a British silent serial called The Mystery of Dr. Fu Manchu. The first American film was in 1929 The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu. There were quite a few more films to follow and then radio and television. Fu Manchu was almost as big a star as Sherlock Holmes or The Saint or James Bond. Fifth and Fourth Printings. Paperback.
