L'idea migliore sarebbe confidarsi con Costanza e ricevere uno dei suoi sapienti consigli ma, ogni volta che Ondine cerca di imbastire il discorso, qualcosa le impedisce di parlare. Come se non bastasse, a guastare le sue giornate, la protagonista si ritroverà faccia a faccia e per la prima volta con Daniel Marinetti: il suo vero padre. L'unica cosa ad allietare tali episodi e a darle forza per andare avanti è la vicinanza di Etienne. Ma il mistero della vita sta anche in questo e, dopo aver offerto ai due l'occasione di ritrovarsi, tra Ondine e Etienne sboccia di nuovo l'amore. Un amore che sembra più grande e più forte di prima. Ma è veramente così roseo il motivo che li ha avvicinati? O forse, inconsapevolmente, per entrambi si cela qualcosa di più oscuro? Le cose non andranno decisamente meglio al rientro a Bellville: da un lato, Ondine sa che l'attende l'ultimo anno di liceo e gli esami di maturità, dall'altro sa che l'aspetta la classe di "rimandati" e che dovrà affrontare ogni giorno le frecciatine dei compagni alla scuola di Rue Le Courbet.
