Hitchcock Marie 1960. Pictorial hardcover binding with white spine is lightly rubbed but clean and tight. Large stain inside front cover most likely from a newspaper clipping or something stored t here for some time. Else interior is clean bright and tight. 32 pages. Bum was the town dog of San Diego in the 1890's. Hitchcock and Engman were sisters who were moved to San Diego from Chicago in the 1940's. When the authors discovered the story of Bum in 1950 they were established as the Padre Puppeteers who did puppet shows for children all ove rhte city. Encouraged to write a play about the dog Bum they did so and this book is the result of that play. An unusual book but an important part of San Diego history. A unique book in dark green boards containing circulars articles bulletins etc. About 700 to 800 pages total. Numerous full page illustrations a number fold out. The contents are generally from around 1907 to the 1920s. The list of contents handwritten on the front end papers shows 47 items. Contents include The Cypress and Juniper Trees of the Rocky Mountains; Montana Forest and Timber Handbook; a number of items on various pines; Chaparral Studies in the Dwarf Forests or Elfin-wood of Southern California; Oregon Oak; Blue Spruce; The Evergreen Trees of Colorado; the Eucalypts of California; etc. A heavy book additional postage may be required. ; Photographs drawings. . hardcover

Clean square and tight bumped corners just minimal wear to interior with some foxing. Hinge is cracked in middle of book but binding integrity is good. Stated First Edition. DJ is price-clipped shelfwear with some chips and rubbing - protected from further damage in clean Brodart jacket. Unpaginated. Easy reader. Silver Cloud warns her twin colts that if they are patient they will find out about the many things that fascinate them - but they are not patient and they find a gap in the fence - so they run away!
