La famille des Ébénacées est une famille de plantes dicotylédones qui comprend 500 espèces réparties en deux à six genres. Ce sont des arbres ou des arbustes principalement des régions tropicales mais qui comptent quelques espèces dans les zones tempérées. Ils constituent une importante source de bois : le bois d'ébène et de fruits. Le plaqueminier du Japon est cultivé sous les climats tempérés pour ses fruits (kakis). Une autre espèce produisant des fruits comestibles est le plaqueminier de Virginie alors que les fruits du plaqueminier d'Europe sont uniquement ornementaux. La classification phylogénétique place cette famille dans l'ordre des Ericales et y incorpore les Lissocarpaceae.

Lievi arrossature a qualche carta; firma coeva di appartenenza sulla prima c.b. e sulle pagine 8 e 9, altrimenti ben conservato. Edizione assai rara di questo manuale che l'autore, già direttore dell'Orto Botanico di Napoli, editò a sue spese. Soltanto tre copie nelle biblioteche italiane (IT\ICCU\MO1\0018060).

Fra gli altri argomenti: la masseria, classi agricole, incovenienze della piccola proprieta' rustica, della industria manifatturiera; la bonifica dei terreni argillosi, sovesci, sistemi di colture, maggesi, cereali, tuberi, prati, piante tintorie, ecc... olivo e industria olearia, gelso e industria serica, agrumi, pastorizia, boschi, apicoltura...

Prima edizione, molto rara, di questo studio sulla flora di Parma e del Parmense, comprendente "le piante vascolari che crescono spontanee e quelle che piu' comunemente coltivansi tra l'Enza e lo Stirone, il Po ed una linea che dal Castello di Guardasone passa successivamente per le alture dello Sporno di Prinzera e di Pellegrino. Sebbene circoscritta da confini si' angusti rappresenta pero' la Flora di gran parte della pianura situata alla destra del Po, e dei colli terziarii che la fiancheggiano; e l'uso di essa puo' quindi estendersi a molto tratto di paese posto fuori del suo dominio" (p. III). Alle pp. 361 e sgg. si trovano il dizionario dei termini tecnici, l'indice delle famiglie e dei generi botanici, l'indice degli autori citati e l'errata. Il Passerini (Pieve di Guastalla, 1816-Parma, 1893) fu illustre botanico, micologo ed entomologo, professore all'Universita' di Parma e direttore dell'Orto Botanico della citta' emiliana. Nel 1875 fu il primo presidente della sezione italiana dell'Alpine Club. Lievissima fioritura della carta alle prime ed ultime pagine, in barbe, a grandi margini. In più che buono stato. Importante.

In 16, pp. VIII + 134 + (1). Fioriture sparse. Lievi mancanze ai p. Br. muta coeva. Catalogo botanico di questo studioso (1816-1819), nato a Gusatalla, direttore dell'orto botanico di Parma e primo presidente del CAI della citta'.
