His Analysis Relies On Observation And Consensus On The Substance Of Those Observations Much More Sophisticated Than Modern Discussions Which Attempt To Make Common Law Rational When It Is Not And Which Attempt To Rely On Purported "Rights" Not In Any Constitution It Is Written For Medical Forensic Practitioners But Is Agreeable To Ordinary Reason. Per Wikipedia Henry Maudsley Frcp 1835 - 1918 Was A Pioneering English Psychiatrist Commemorated In The Maudsley Hospital In London And In The Annual Maudsley Lecture Of The Royal College Of Psychiatrists. At The Age Of 23 Maudsley Was Appointed Medical Superintendent At The Small Middle-Class Manchester Royal Lunatic Asylum In Cheadle Royal. Despite Being Relatively Inexperienced Clinically And Administratively He Managed To Raise Patient Numbers And Income. He Returned To London In 1862 Taking Up Residence In Queen Anne St Cavendish Square. In 1865 He Failed To Gain The Position Of Physician To The Bethlem Royal Hospital But Succeeded At The West London Hospital. So Ended Maudsley's Relatively Brief Period In Public And Charitable Asylums. In The Same Year He Was Appointed Co-Editor Of The Journal Of Mental Science An Influential Position He Retained For 15 Years. Maudsley Was Elected A Fellow Of The Royal College Of Physicians And Delivered Their Gulstonian Lectures In 1870 On Body And Mind. The Text Of Maudsley's Lectures Was Studied Carefully By Charles Darwin In The Preparation Of His The Expression Of The Emotions In Man And Animals 1872. Maudsley Was Appointed Professor Of Medical Jurisprudence At University College London From 1869 To 1879. Maudsley Married John Conolly's Daughter Ann Conolly In February 1866 And From 1866 Took Over The Running Of Conolly's Private Mental Asylum Lawn House Housing Six Wealthy Women Until 1874. ‎About The Book : A Very useful little book compiled by Professor Max Muller for the assistance of officers in learning the languages of the Seat of War in the east. It does not profess to be complete or elaborate but it gives in a plain and succinct way all that author knows of the nature of the eastern languages, and their philological and geographical connection. Some short and sensible suggestion and directions as to the method and the best books employed in acquiring the various languages are added which we should think would be found very useful. This book was chiefly intended for Englishmen, employed in the civil or military services of the east, as a guide through the lybrinth of the various races and languages with which they are brought in contact. The most attractive part of this work seems to us that which treats on the third and least known family of languages the Turanian etc About The Author : F. Max Muller (Friedrich Max Müller 1823-1900) was a German- philologist and Orientalist, who lived and studied in Britain for most of his life. He was one of the founders of the western academic disciplines of Indian studies and religious studies. Müller wrote both scholarly and popular works on the subject of Indology. The Sacred Books of the East, a 50-volume set of English translations, was prepared under his direction. He also promoted the idea of a Turanian family of languages. In need of a scholarship to attend Leipzig University, Müller successfully sat his abitur examination at Zerbst. While preparing, he found that the syllabus differed from what he had been taught, necessitating that he rapidly learn mathematics, modern languages and science. He entered Leipzig University in 1841 to study philology, leaving behind his early interest in music and poetry. He received his degree in 1843. His final dissertation was on Spinoza's Ethics. He also displayed an aptitude for classical languages, learning Greek, Latin, Arabic, Persian and Sanskrit.
