‎Delinquency and Human Nature‎

‎460 pages including index. In 1945, the Headmaster-Designate of an Approved School suggested to the Trustees that it would be of much practical value to have an intensive study of a group of delinquents made by one who could be granted the necessary facilities by residence for a period in a School and by virtual adoption on to its staff. They were fortunate in securing the services of the author for the purpose. Mr. Stott, for four years, enjoyed the active co-operation of the Warden and the members of the permanent staff of a School whose identity it is not, for obvious reasons, possible to disclose. The present volume is the result of Mr. Stott's investigation and of his sympathetic and expert approach to the task thus entrusted to him. Unmarked. Moderate wear. ‎Johnston, Robert H.‎

‎Continuity Versus Revolution: The Russian Provisional Government and the Balkans, March-November 1917‎

‎258 pages. "On the adbication of Nicholas II Russia's new rulers found themselves confronted by a host of problems, two of which were particularly urgent. What was to be the new government's relationship to its rival in power, the Petrograd Soviet, and what was to be its position on the war and on the aims for which Russia was fighting? To a large degree the answer to the first question depended on the Provisional Government's response to the second. This in turn depended on a third: how did the Tsar's successors conceive of Russia's role and place in Europe? Expressed in the terms of 1917, should the nation still struggle for Constantinople and the reassertion of Russian preponderance in the Balkans? Or should the Russian people fight now only in defense of the revolution and for the democratic principles it proclaimed?" - from Abstract.
