Attraverso un confronto serrato con i maggiori filosofi della tradizione occidentale, dagli antichi greci a Thomas Hobbes e ai moralisti inglesi, e mediante un'articolata analisi dei testi centrali di David Hume e Immanuel Kant, Husserl si misura con uno dei tentativi più originali del pensiero moderno: fondare in maniera sistematica un'etica scientifica e rigorosa.

Cantare il creato. Con san Francesco e con san Giovanni della Croce
br. Nell'enciclica "Laudato si'" di papa Francesco è in primo piano il Cantico di frate Sole di san Francesco, ma a questo viene affiancato un esteso riferimento al Cantico spirituale di san Giovanni della Croce. Seguendo questo indizio, si esamina la sensibilità verso il creato dei due santi facendo tesoro in particolare di uno dei più grandi insegnamenti lasciatici dal padre del Carmelo riformato, «la conoscenza delle creature tramite Dio»: conoscenza che si realizza nella relazione nuziale ed erotica tra Dio e la sua creatura, in un'ottica in cui il creato possa essere pienamente valorizzato. Questa visione equilibrata e innamorata del creato nel suo Creatore può costituire un fondamentale apporto alla «conversione ecologica» invocata da papa Francesco nella sua enciclica.

Mindfulness. Un'opportunità per i cristiani?
br. Il fenomeno della mindfulness dilaga in scuole, ospedali, aziende, conventi e parrocchie. Di fronte al suo diffondersi anche in àmbito ecclesiale, fra Iacopo Iadarola si è chiesto se sia opportuno integrare tale pratica meditativa di origine buddhista nella vita e nella preghiera cristiana. Nel moltiplicarsi di pubblicazioni entusiaste, talvolta superficiali circa la mindfulness, questo studio, che si avvale di una ricca bibliografia proveniente da Paesi in cui essa si è già diffusa da decenni, si pone, almeno in Italia, come l'unica indagine che evidenzi le problematicità di un'accoglienza acritica. Ciò senza cadere in una sorda apologetica ma ancorandosi al magistero e alle fonti buddhiste, e avvalendosi di osservazioni di psicologi, sociologi e di quegli stessi esponenti del buddhismo che mettono in guardia dal consumismo spirituale in cui la mindfulness sembrerebbe scivolare (all'estero si comincia a parlare di McMindfulness!). Un corposo contributo in postfazione di padre Antonio Gentili, esponente di riferimento e di massima apertura nel dialogo tra cristianesimo e Oriente, supporta l'opera di discernimento dell'autore nella ricerca di un delicato equilibrio tra rifiuto incondizionato e ingenua accettazione.

br. Gesù crocifisso e Francesco stigmatizzato: un binomio che per lungo tempo e per molti ha quasi sintetizzato la sostanza della spiritualità francescana. L'evento della stigmatizzazione di Francesco portò la famiglia francescana nel corso del suo primo secolo di vita a concentrare la sua attenzione su Francesco "con-crocifisso" e a vedere nella sua vita il riferimento a Gesù crocifisso e alla croce in una misura non documentata. Gli studi contemporanei sul "Francesco storico" stimolano a ricollocare la croce e il Crocifisso nel contesto della sua ampia e articolata esperienza e visione di Gesù Cristo.

Partendo dal suo esempio e dai suoi scritti, ma anche sulla base della testimonianza vissuta dei suoi fratelli e discepoli lungo i secoli, gli elementi fondanti e caratteristici della sua spiritualità sono stati sempre più e meglio studiati e approfonditi. Questo libro è una documentata, completa e sistematica, seppur sintetica, esplorazione di questo universo spirituale, con l'illustrazione dei suoi contenuti essenziali. In secondo luogo esso vuole mostrare la validità e la vitale fecondità di questa spiritualità, in particolare per il nostro tempo, pur così lontano, come contesto culturale ed ecclesiale, dal mondo di Francesco. Un'intuizione e un'esperienza spirituale, quella francescana, che si radica nel cuore stesso del vangelo; e perciò, come questo, è attuale per l'uomo di ogni tempo e ogni luogo.
