Octavo; self-wrappers unopened. 16pp. Toning and creasing to edges with a few minor nicks; about Very Good. <br /> <br /> The New England Female Moral Reform Society's stated goal was the "prevention of licentiousness" prostitution the moral double standard regarding both and protecting young women from the "unprincipled destroyer who seduce and ruin the unsuspecting." Indeed this issue devotes a section to "Street Beggars" who are imposters attempting to lead astray the young and unsuspecting. The paper continues in telling the story of two young women who were led to "a house of ill fame" by one such imposter and were saved from a member of the society and thus saved "from this sink of iniquity. from her 'whose house is the way to hell going down to the chambers of death.'"<br /> <br /> Also of note here is the ongoing "Letters to Sarah E. Grimke" portion of this publication which runs several pages in this issue gently arguing several points regarding the role of women in society. The letter concludes with a post script that the author has just received Grimke's pamphlet "Equality of the Sexes" acknowledges her sincere obligations and urges everyone who reads this publication to also read Grimke's. Lo scritto, una serie di riflessioni sull'eloquenza, venne pubblicata come seguito dell'opera "Essais sur divers sujets de litterature et de morale, à laquelle on a joint les reflexions du meme auteur sur l'Eloquence en general et sur celle de la Chaire en particulier" ma in sè è completa Collazionata. Bella copertina in piena pelle coeva con titolo in oro al dorso. Note manoscritte al frontespizio.In buone condizioni. Raro, alto valore. Copertina in mezza pelle con titolo e decorazioni in oro al dorso in buone condizioni generali con usure e parti mancanti ai margini e dorso. Legatura in buone condizioni. All'interno le pagine si presentano in buone condizioni con rare fioriture. Lievi e piccole gore d'umidità marginali. Edition of 1762 of this interesting work by the french churchman and moralist Nicolas-Charles Trublet (1697-1770). Trublet is best known for his problems with Boltaire, of whom he critiqued the work Henriade. The writing, with a series of reflexions about eloquence, was published as following of "Essais sur divers sujets de litterature et de morale, à laquelle on a joint les reflexions du meme auteur sur l'Eloquence en general et sur celle de la Chaire en particulier" but is complete in itself. Collationed work. Beautiful full leather cover with golden title and decorations in the spine. In good conditions. Scarce work, high value Half leather cover with golden title and decorations in the spine in good general conditions with wearings and missing parts in the edges and spine. Binding in good conditions. Inside pages are in good conditions with occasional foxings. Slight and little humidity stain in the edges.
