Ces gravures sont parfois attribuées à de Sève (Cohen, 725) et parfois à Pierre, dessinées par Watelet et terminées par Cochin (Louis Vian, Histoire de Montesquieu, p.393). Il m'est difficile de déterminer quelle est précisément cette édition, car on trouve pour ce titre-là: Huart comme éditeur, à Paris, en 1742. Outre la collation de notre exemplaire, il existe une version avec exactement les mêmes illustrations, mais la collation change: [4]-VIII-85 pages. Sommes-nous ici en présence d'une contrefaçon? Quoi qu'il en soit, l'exemplaire est très beau, imprimé sur un beau papier, et il ne coûte pas cher! !! He was also a historian of the Victorian era publishing 'Eminent Victorians' and a noted biography of Queen Victoria.In a signed binding by Charles Lewis.
