Il contient 4 pp. (titre et préface), 88 planches lithographiées, montées sur onglet et imprimées seulement au recto. La première édition a paru à Genève en 1837. ‎Sm. folio, First Edition, with series title and title in red and black, and very numerous fine cartoons and caricatures throughout; original red coarse-grained cloth, upper board with multiple frame border enclosing four cardinal rosettes all in blind, the whole containing an elaborate floral wreath with title lettered all in gilt, leather back tooled and lettered in gilt, marbled edges, yellow endpapers, a remarkably, bright, clean copy in splendid period binding. Lovely copy in wholly unrestored contemporary binding of the third and final volume of Leech's well-known trilogy of illustrations from the 'Punch' archives. Scarce in anything like this condition.‎

‎4to., Second Edition, with a fine coloured frontispiece, 3 coloured plates, and 35 full-page line illustrations and many smaller sketches in the text; cloth, covers minimally age-soiled else a remarkably bright, clean copy with virtually no trace of the usual spotting. The first edition was published in 1933. Delightful illustrations (as always with Aldin) accompany Morton's humorous verses. Aldin was responsible for the coloured plates, the full-page line illustrations and all but nine of the smaller sketches (seven are by Trist and two by Sheringham). Heron, p.196 (recording the first edition).‎

‎Oblong 4to., First Edition thus, text in English, title and text in blue and black, with very numerous delightful cartoons throughout, neat signature on title; original illustrated wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, yapped edges, covers mildly age-soiled else a very good, clean copy of a rare booklet. One of the world's oldest trademarks, 'Bibendum' (the 'Michelin Man') was created in 1898 by cartoonist Marius Rossillon ['O'Galop'] at the instigation of Andre Michelin. The figure's first mass appearance was on the company's famous poster of 1898 since when it has continued to represent the Michelin company in over 150 companies. This very scarce booklet was produced to mark the figure's twenty-fifth anniversary. Since text and captions are entirely in English (but printed in France) we assume that this is the English version of a French promotional publication. A RARE SURVIVAL.‎

With 2pp publisher's catalogues bound in at end of each volume. The second volume has a neat contemporary inscription on front free endpaper, and the trade ticket of Blackwell on front paste-down. Arguably the most famous and sought after of the many titles written and illustrated by Harry Furniss, a favourite illustrator of Lewis Carroll, and whose splendid caricatures were a byword during the last quarter of the Victoria era.‎
