Initially this appears as a faux signature but closer inspection reveals that ink from the signature has partially soaked through to the other side of the page, suggesting it may be a true signature. Conversely, ink has soaked through at other places, suggesting the signature is not handwritten. Profusely illustrated with black and white illustrations. Il pratiqua durant sa jeunesse les poids et haltères ainsi que la gymnastique. Il fût initié à la savate défense par son père, Achille Plée. Son père fût fait prisonnier en tant que résistant par l'armée Allemande, et faillit être déporté, juste avant l'armistice. Il débuta l'étude du Karaté au Japon en 1946, avec Rikutaro Fukuda, élève direct du Maître Gichin Funakoshi, fondateur du Style Shotokan. Il a rencontré de grands maîtres japonais comme Taiji Kasé, Yamaguchi Gogen et bien d'autres. C'est en 1953 qu'il fonda, rue de la Montagne-Sainte-Geneviève, dans le 5e arrondissement de Paris, le premier dojo occidental, avec les quatre piliers des arts martiaux japonais, le judo, le karaté, l'aïkido et le kendo. Il a été élu « le professeur du siècle » en avril 1999, lors du 14e festival des arts martiaux de Bercy. Son nom est arrivé en première position parmi une liste de 33 maîtres d'arts martiaux nominés et exerçant en France. Henry Plée a reçu la légion d'honneur, le 15 mai 2008, pour récompenser "le président d'honneur de la fédération française de karaté, 68 ans d'activités sportives, professionnelles, associatives et de services militaires." Il est l'auteur avec Fujita Saiko du best seller "L'Art sublime et ultime des points vitaux". Il est aussi l'auteur du Livre "Karaté par l'image" et "ABC du Karaté Dô, Boxe Libre Japonaise de Défense Invincible". Henry Plée est également connu pour ses chroniques dans la revue d'arts martiaux "Karaté Bushido". Très RARE ouvrage sur le karaté. Le livre est débroché mais bien complet de toutes les pages ! Très bon état de la couverture et du papier mais débroché !
