2020New English Original cloth bdg. 4to. (30 x 21 cm). In English. 85 p., 1230 coins in 38 plates, b/w ills. Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum Turkey 9. The Özkan Arikantürk Collection, Volume 3. Misia. This project, which started eight years ago, aiming at publishing the Greek coins in my collection in three separate volumes, has reached completion with the publication of the SNG Mysia. The city with the highest representation in this volume is Adramyteum where I live nearby, by 296 coins. The second significant city is Pergamon, by 277 coins. This book also includes uncertain and unpublished coins from various cities. The rich coin collection of Dr. Özkan Arikantürk living in Burhaniye is completed with this volume. More than 2500 coins were introduced to the academia with three volumes, namely Troas, Aeolis and Mysia. The last region which is the scope of this volume is represented by more than 20 cities. The coins of the cities of Adramyteum and Pergamon constitute the majority of the coins in this volume. Among the Adramyteum coins, satrapal coins are considerable in number. We would like to express our gratitude to Mr. Özkan Arikantürk, dentist and collector, who facilitated our work during the preparation of catalog. We would like to thank, Richard Ashton, Aneurin Ellis-Evans, Jérémie Chameroy, Volker Heuchert and Arif Yaci who revised the catalog. We would also like to thank Ahmet Boratav of Ege Publications for his support for the publication; our special thanks go to Ms. Hülya Tokmak for her layout work. This SNG volume, a joint publication of the Turkish Institute of Archaeology (TEBE) and Koç University Suna & Inan Kiraç Research Center for Mediterranean Civilizations (AKMED), has been published with the financial contribution of the Union Académique Internationale, thus we appreciate UAI for their kind support.

2016New English Original bdg. HC. Roy. 8vo. (24 x 17 cm). In English. [x], 210 p., color ills. 300 copies were printed. Balance weights in the Aegean world. Classical and Hellenistic periods. Translated from Turkish into English Inci Türkoglu. Historically, balance weights are as old as the balances themselves. Actually, balance and weight examples of Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Hittite civilisations are known from wall paintings, reliefs, papyri and collections. However, the scope of this book is the balance weights produced and used in the Aegean world during the Classical and Hellenistic periods. Balance weights were among the instruments of public sphere (instrumenta publica) of antiquity and they constitute an important group of antiquities worth studying for their unit marks, symbols, depictions, inscriptions and ornaments. However, balance weights have been among the most neglected artefacts within archaeological research. Certainly, this work at handbook level should not be expected to fill the gap entirely, but rather call attention to this field. The examples were chosen from the city-states in the Aegean world and cover only those which bear ethnic or symbol (parasemon). CONTENTS: FOREWORD. INTRODUCTION. Scope, material, and sources. History of research in the light of basic publications. 1. AN OVERVIEW OF WEIGHTS: Form, material, and manufacture. Symbols (parasema) and other depictions. Denominations. Ethnic.
