1811réf. 240Monthly Magazine or British Register Vol. XXXI Part I for 1811 is a specific issue of the prominent British periodical The Monthly Magazine published in London by Richard Phillips. Founded in 1796 the magazine was known for its focus on politics literature science and statistics. Under Phillips' direction for thirty years the publication became increasingly statistical and scientific rather than purely literary. This volume part of the series printed for R. Phillips falls within the period when the magazine was edited by Dr. John Aikin who served for the first ten years and featured contributions from notable literary figures such as William Blake Samuel Taylor Coleridge Charles Lamb and the early fiction of Charles Dickens. Phillips himself contributed political articles and essays under the pseudonym "Common Sense." This 215 year old book is in very good condition. The front and back boards are a little loose but are still attached. The pages are all firmly attached to the spine and only have minimal foxing. Altogether for a book of this age it is in very good condition - see photos. Richard Phillips hardcover
