Brick-red cloth gilt design on front cover gilt lettering on spine still a NF bright copy. First edition of this splendidly printed homage to the famed American type designer lettering artist and graphic designer. Cooper 1879-1940 headed the firm of Bertsch & Cooper who developed the ad campaigns for such companies as Packard Motor Car Company and Anheuser-Busch Breweries at the beginning of the 20th century. This work includes unfinished autobiographical notes by Cooper Notes on Oz by W.A. Dwiggins famed type designer as well as numerous examples of his Cooper Series Typefaces. Included are photographs half-tones and line engravings small vignettes 12 on facing pages to full-page plates from photographs and wash and pen drawings. Apparently not recorded on OCLC which does locate several later 1890s pamphlets printed by H.J. Ormsbee their stamp on rear wrapper successor to Ormsbee & Bailey. Disbound; worn along the spine storage soiling and wear at extremities. Good copy only. The company unknown

Colour-illustrated softcovers w/ type faces cover art and company logo of covered wagon w/ oxen minor shelfwear rubbing pencil MS annotations on first leaf still VG copy. First edition of this scarce Pacific Northwest type specimen catalogue featuring machine composition and hand composition typefaces. Machine was primarily confined to such typefaces as Bodoni Century Garamond Gothic Paragon Spartan and a few others. The Hand composition encompassed a much wider range from Balloon to Cloister Black Entravers Text to Pirannesi and even included a Wood Type face section. Starting with Souvenirs d'un montagnard by Count Tyndall Russell-Killough one of the twenty rarest Pyrenean books; printed in 1878 the in-8° . Hot on its heels is Boudon de Saint-Amans' Fragmens d'un voyage . en 1789 an anthology of his publications in two volumes in a fine period binding. The journey continues at the same level with A Picturesque and Descriptive Tour in the Mountains of the High Pyrenees . by Joseph Hardy published in London in 1825 and decorated with 24 aquatint-engraved views.
