1870réf. 002477New York: P.F. Collier 1870. Thomas Moore often refered to as "Ireland's National Poet" was one of the most popular writers of the mid-19th Century. Clean text; 639 pages indexed. All edges are gilt. Tipped-in at the rear is a four-page pamphlet of the publisher's current offerings. There is no publication date but Quercus ventures that stylistically it would be around 1860-80 although Quercus has seen a similar edition by a British publisher that was from 1856. Due to their weight these large Victorian volumes are often seen with split hinges; this copy has a front hinge reinforced with a linen tape. There is minor rubbing at the margins else a Fine copy - an impressive sight on the bookshelf!. First Edition Thus. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. P.F.
