Included is a printing of the text of a brief 1842 letter from Poe to the unnamed reviewer. In the January issue on page 22 there are humorous verses about Poe's famously ferocious literary criticism. It begins: "With tomahawk upraised for deadly blow / Behold our literary Mohawk POE!." These pages also include offerings in the anonymously authored series "The Autobiography of a Monomaniac." Poe was suspected of being the author but in a private letter in 1849 he denied it.
