John Edmonds Stock Erasmus Darwin 1731-1802 and Thomas Beddoes 1760-1808 were contemporaries of each other. Erasmus Darwin and Thomas Beddoes developed a friendship and working relationship. Indeed Darwin praised and referenced the work of Beddoes in Zoonomia. Stock and Beddoes worked together this in part led to Stock being asked to write the Memoirs of the Life of Thomas Beddoes Pub. 1811. King-Hele 1963 wrote that Darwin was unjustly attacked by reactionaries. Stock came to Darwins aid as a staunch supporter of his ideas. The number of annotations Stock made to this copy of Zoonomia can be seen as an indication of his depth of understanding of Darwins work. Fine illustrated and antiquarian Natural history hardcover
