They are typically European and of the Bronze and Iron Ages. Some were used in the post-Roman period. The fortification usually follows the contours of a hill consisting of one or more lines of earthworks with stockades or defensive walls and external ditches. Hill forts developed in the Late Bronze and Early Iron Age roughly the start of the first millennium BC and were in use in many Celtic areas of central and western Europe until the Roman conquest. . 2008rif. 13398New York: JMc & GHB Editions 2008. Silken cloth boards with photo-illustrated jacket; fine. First Edition. Quarto. One of 1000 hardcover copies featuring a dust jacket photographed and designed by Richard Prince. This artist's book published by JMc & GHB Editions served as a supplement to James Frey's 2008 publication with Harper Collins Bright Shiny Morning with three vignettes from his novel accompanied by Terry Richardson's photographs of Los Angeles. One of the vignettes Wives was too racy for Harper Collins; Richardson has illustrated it here with images of breastfeeding MILFs brandishing rifles holding trophies and lounging in hot tubs—but it's his black-and-white aerial shots of the LA freeway system that turns this collaboration into a finely tuned photobook.
