1962ref. 5594London United Kingdom: Dawsons of Pall Mall 1962. First Edition. hardcover. Near Fine. N/A. A Bio-Bibliography of Florence Nightingale W. J. Bishop and Sue Goldie — First Edition Publication: London Dawsons of Pall Mall 1962 Formatting: 8vo pp. 160. Condition Report: Near Fine. The original dark blue publisher's cloth boards are remarkably well-preserved beneath a clear protective wrapper exhibiting sharp corners rigid edges and no discernible shelf-wear. The gilt lettering to the spine remains notably bright and entirely unoxidised. The binding is exceedingly tight and square showing no signs of internal separation or structural weakness indicating the book has seen very little use. Internally the text block is exceptionally clean; the leaves are free from foxing or soiling with only a very faint uniform age-toning to the page edges that is entirely standard for the paper stock of this era. A crisp highly attractive and structurally pristine copy. Catalogue Note: First Edition. Compiled by the late W. J. Bishop and completed by Sue Goldie this important reference work was published for The International Council of Nurses with which is associated The Florence Nightingale International Foundation. The volume features a frontispiece portrait illustration of Nightingale. This authoritative bibliography is uncommonly encountered on the open market in such sharp condition; as a primary institutional reference tool surviving copies are often heavily handled re-bound or significantly degraded after decades of academic use. An indispensable resource for historians of medicine and nursing A Bio-Bibliography of Florence Nightingale systematically chronicles the vast written output of the founder of modern nursing. Ranging from her globally influential healthcare manuals to her lesser-known private correspondence statistical analyses and extensive reports on public health and hospital administration this volume meticulously catalogues the documentary evidence of Nightingale's extraordinary life and lasting reforms.
