1927Best.-Nr. 48657Paris: Shakespeare and Company 1927. Very good plus. Ninth printing of James Joyce's masterpiece one of the great works of literature in English. Midway through their serialization issues of the magazine were seized and the editors were brought to trial in the fall of 1920. When they were convicted ULYSSES was abandoned only about half of it published. This disaster led to the now iconic publication of the book by Sylvia Beach at Shakespeare & Company of which this copy is a ninth printing. 8'' x 6.25''. Later blue cloth boards. 736 pages. Leaves with a touch of toning light edgewear. Firm. Shakespeare and Company unknown books
