1923ref. 609203London: Warren & Phillips 1923. Softcover. Very Good. Unknown edition. Quarto. Two nested bifolia making eight pages. Gift inscription with a sticker shadow on the front cover outer bifolium with nicking at the ends of the fold and soiling to the exterior still a complete and very good copy. For voice and piano. The back cover features short samples of two other songs. The front cover states "To Miss Eva Turner L.R.A.M. Awarded Challenge Cup British Music Society Festival Plymouth 1923." An obscure piece from an obscure composer; we were only able to find two things written about Joyce Pawley both in The Musical Times: A 1931 mention announcing her success along with several others for her licentiateship examination in pianoforte held at the Royal Academy of Music in London; and a 1933 mention of her recently released piece "The Lady" which the writer describes as "a neat work" but goes on to complain that it's too similar to another song. This piece is unrecorded by OCLC and it appears to be equally scarce in the trade. Warren & Phillips unknown books

2014ref. 212334Baltimore MD: Goya Contemporary 2014. Softcover. VG Exlibrary with stickers on front and back cover. Color illustrated wraps with white and black text. Unnumbered pages. Color illustrations. "Joyce J. Scott has been known to deliberately and systematically close the gap between the virtuosity of fine art and the honed adroitness of fine craft to reveal a practice of meaningful storytelling through the vehicle of the object. Uncharacteristically for Scott the exhibition Can't we All Just Get Along focuses on a particular subject the global gun culture. This is a common theme in her oeuvre yet this showing deviates from past exhibitions in the sum total of her concentrated message." Goya Contemporary paperback books

ref. 63-2449San Francisco: Antinarcissus 1969. 4to. 4 pp. Stapled Wraps Very Good. Illustrated. First Edition. In 1965 Penelope & Franklin Rosemont co-founded the Chicago Surrealist Group following a trip to Paris where they met André Breton. Franklin Rosemont played an important role in popularizing the work of poet Breton. Rosemont was also a noted labour historian and publisher. The newly-formed Chicago Group combined their creativity with radical political activity and staged a number of interesting events. Rosemont insisted that the organization of a surrealist exhibition could only be undertaken by surrealists themselves.Much of the group’s work was published in Arsenal/Surrealist Subversions and has been republished in collections. Collection from Mel Gordon associate Editor at The Drama Review. San Francisco: Antinarcissus, 1969. paperback
