Compiled by 4E Ackerman in July of 1946. 500 copies were mimeographed by E. Everett Evans. Printed on one side only. 28 pgs. 8.5'' x 11'' Staplebound softcover booklet. A listing with some notes of the 1300 "fantasy books" that at the time comprised the famous Forrest J. Ackerman collection which would of course continue to grow into the largest private SF collection ever assembled. Aside from the primary bibliography it also includes lists of relevant non-fiction Esperanto and books in languages other than English. A listing of Forrest Ackerman's fantasy and science fiction books accumulated 1928 to 1945 which he intended to donate to the Fantasy Foundation. As the library grew to number in the hundreds of thousands his plans changed; he offered them to the City of Los Angeles which refused to accept responsibility; the German government failed to raise funds for a museum dedicated to it; and eventually the collection was dispersed in a series of public and private sales lasting over 20 years. 1946rif. 006614Racine WI: Whitman Publishing. Very Good in Good dust jacket. 1946. First Edition. Hardcover. Whitman Publishing Nr 5049 381 pp green quarter cloth with pictorial boards. Spine slightly cocked corners chipped some edge wear and chipping 3/4" tear near center of rear board a few other nicks and scuffs to boards. Diamond patterned end papers with drawings of a toy or pet inside each diamond. Jacket in new Brodart with moderate edge wear and chipping especially along alap edges some rubbing a number of small holes from insect damage an old price in crayon at top of front panel and '1952' written in white on back panel 1 1/4" chip near center of back panel. Overall a nice copy. A charming children's book which takes a journey through the year in rhyme. Each page is illustrated with black and white or tri-color drawings reminiscent of post-World War II America. 3 pages that we saw had parts of the illustrations carefully colored in. From the dust jacket: "There are poems that tell stories nonsense rhymes bits of verse as soothing as a lullaby and poems about the holidays. Some verses daddy and mother will remember from their own childhood and others appear in print for the first time. Francis Kirn the artist has caught the feeling of each poem. There is a touch of whimsy and a sense of humor in some of the drawings and in others there is a feeling of tenderness and realism. Whatever the mood poem and illustration combine to make the day's rhyme a unit." Age Level: Preschool Read Aloud; 9¾" - 12" Tall . Whitman Publishing hardcover
